Big changes for this gen... It will surely be the fastest M3 ever, but I hope not too many of the intangibles have been lost.

I just wonder if it will feel more special than a nicely tuned and modded E92 335is
Cause you can buy a used 335is for cheap and mod it. A brand new M3/M4 better be pretty damn awesome to pay new money for.

I'm sure it will, but I'm very interested to see some back-t0-back drives of the new car and ours, to see the pros' opinion of the two in relation to each other (like MT's drive of the M3 and 1M together).

I kind of feel like this car will be like the 996 911. Good car but not considered to be a classic.
The new AMG C Class car sea better on paper. It also reduced weight. But it has a 4L TT V8. That sounds yummy

Will people wax poetic about the F8x like they did for the E9x? Only time will tell...

It's definitely possible. But somehow I just doubt it. Everyone has been tuning the 335 for years. This just seems like a factory performed version of it.
And I'm not saying this because I have the E9X M3. I want the M3 to still be king. I just am not sure it will be. The new AMG and the new ATS-V are formidable. And the next RS 4 and RS 5 will probably be awesome.
We'll just have to wait and see. I came wait until the Monkey does a head to head test against the competition.

The look of these has really grown on me recently. I think they look fantastic, especially compared to the blandmobile that was the E90.
Not that I'd buy one mind you, but they do look good.

No. That engine is a turd. All the other improvements are pretty cool - more carbon, finally better calipers (on the steel brakes; screw carbon for track use). The iPad sticking out of the dash still sucks balls though. I'll never be done complaining about that.
I'm with Rusto regarding Chris Harris. I don't want the M3 to lose, and I'm not sure it would in a pure laptime test, but part of me wants to see BMW learn a lesson with people calling bullshit on fake M engines, fake sound in the cabin, etc. You can put a tarted up N55 in an M235i and no one cares, but going in this direction with the M3/4 is wrong.

I hope reviewers use the phrase "end of an era" or something like that, in reference to our cars, while driving the new one. Faster? Sure. But better? I'm skeptical.

I actually mentioned this same video to Rusto above.
