The CrossCab is !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . We should all rejoice! Why? Not for the obvious reason, but because for the fact that it will become a future classic...

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The CrossCab serves absolutely no purpose. It is bad at everything that it does.

It isn't fast (0-60 in about 8 seconds). It isn't practical (it seats 2 adults). There's not a lot of cargo room (12 cu. ft. is a generous rating). It isn't a lightweight (4500 lbs.). It isn't fun to drive (slushbox CVT). !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! It's not fuel efficient (18/22 mpg). It doesn't corner/handle well. It doesn't off-road well either. Blah, blah, blah, the list goes on and on. We've all heard it before.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

It's basically just like a Nissan Murano, or any other crossover, but only worse. Way worse. And more expensive, starting at $42K. It might be the least practical car (if you're willing to call it that) you can buy.

Kinja'd!!!

So why, given all of these reasons, will it become a future classic in, let's say, 20 years?

Not only because it's rare. Well, we Jalops love these kinds of quirky cars. The stranger, the better. We love all kinds of weird stuff. It is the strangest car-thing to come along in a long time. So, in 20 years, when a few of us are looking for a car that's totally Jalop, something that fits the very definition of "automobile counterculture", we'll remember the CrossCab. Rejoice.

If the VW Thing and BMW Isetta can be collector cars then the CrossCab can be too.

I've said this in the past, but it's going to be the next big desirable car for car nerds who want to drive something horrible as a kind of jokey ironic statement.

Classics aren't necessarily good cars now, nor were they good cars when they were new. It's just something that hasn't died off yet, and has managed to stick around.

100% agree. It's quirky as fuck, and we will all love it in 20 years. I'll have one parked next to my Aston Cygnet

I saw one the other day, the only one I've seen. I thought to myself "Why would anyone buy that?" But, at the same time, the owner had the top down and looked like they were loving life, so as long as they liked it, good for them.

Wait a sec, are you calling me out?

It wasn't long ago at all I said I liked these...

Anyway, I still do. And in 10 years everyone on Jalopnik is going to be complaining that the last good car Nissan made was this.
