"Battery Tender Unnecessary" (carac)

Always insist on refundable, don't play ball if they won't.
Called the other dealer that didn't sell out from under me to tell them I wanted the white ST I drove on Friday. They repeated the reasonable price they mentioned Friday but said something about $1k in dealer fees...which sounds like them trying to pocket the rebate. They also sent their "stock" deposit form which stated "non-refundable." I emailed back saying that if they won't take refundable, I'll take my chances and show up Friday. Got a fax with "non" marked out and an email saying "refundable is fine." So now there's a refundable deposit holding my likely future Fiesta ST. I told them we'll talk about these "dealer fees" when I arrive on Friday and after I look up whether there are limits on fees in TN. It's spot on price-wise with the going rate without their fee.
New lesson for those buying cars. Don't be afraid to push back when something doesn't sound right.

I'm really interested in what your final number is going to be. Mainly because I know what mine was and I'm wondering if I didn't push back hard enough.

Yeah, I've always made sure my deposits are refundable. And by always I mean, I've done that twice.

Heres a dumb hypothetical to spice up your day!
The authorities empowered by a bogus court order are coming to destroy all of your vehicles. You will of course get re-numeration after the fact, but you cannot prevent the cars from meeting the crusher now. You have time to save only one. Which is it?
1) The SLS
2) Range Rover
3) Fiesta ST
4) E30
5) Hachiroku

SLS because then you could turn around either keep it or sell it and get all the others back.

There's rumblings of a delay on the i8 based on what others are hearing in the UK/Germany, but BMW themselves insist they're still on track for July.

It's looking like it will be $22k-ish with Recaros. That's in line with what people are actually paying.

Oh. Mine doesn't have Recaros and it came out to around 24k.

Agreed. When I went to buy a Golf R, I drove a hard bargain on my trade in. They insisted I was asking too much considering they had a significant (%10 off msrp) sale going and I was going to get %0 APR. I shook their hands and walked out. The next day they called me and said I'd get the amount I wanted.

Well, at the least you'll have a new funmobile to keep you occupied in the meantime!

There's a $1k rebate right now, and if you finance with Ford you get 0% and 500 off.

I did get the financing deal. Missed out on the rebate, though. The price of being "first" I guess.

Don't feel bad, I'll be seeing people pick them up for sub-20 when the 2015's start coming in.

You are heading down a dark path... One of the things that my Dad told me that actually stuck was to remember whether or not you were happy with the price when you bought it. If you were happy with it for what you paid for it, never lose sight of that. There will always be people that pay less (or more) for what you have, but as long as your happy with the what you spent and the enjoyment you receive, let it slide.

Yeah. I can go back on EVERYTHING I bought and think about how else I could have gotten a discount. Either way. All the best to BTU. I know he'll enjoy his Fiesta as much as I enjoy mine.

Yep, did something similar on my Focus ST, I told them I wouldn't pay for the loaded ST3 they had on their lot, and would only take it for the price of the ST2 they sold earlier that day. When I was ready to walk out, they gave it to me for only $1k more than an ST2, but with the extended warranty and oil changes for the life of the warranty. Went from $30.7k sticker to just over $27k, no trade in. I'm happy how it turned out.

Yep, I went from $35,300 to 31,700-ish for a Base 4-door. $5k trade in and %0 loan.
Loaded (Nav, Dynaudio, Kessy, Moonroof) would have been nice, and I thought it was a good deal for $1800, but color was more important. Ideally I would have bought a loaded Rising Blue four door, but I was limited to what they had on the lot to get that ridiculous deal. I definitely wanted a four door, and was limited to two options: a Candy White base model, or a loaded one, in Tornado Red. I'm not a huge fan of red and thought the car looked quite striking in Candy White, so that's what I got.
I don't really miss the moonroof, or Nav (like BTU, I have a smartphone with unlimited data), and I'm not a huge audiophile. Kessy (keyless entry & ignition) would have been neat, but it's just a gimmick imo.

THIS. I am pretty good with my money, but I couldn't stop myself from wanting to be first when my car (Abarth) came out. I special ordered it and payed MSRP (no paint protection or any other dealer add-on crap) knowing that 6 months later it would be possible to get the same car for cheaper. I don't regret it one bit. I was happy with the price I paid (the lowest anyone could get at the time) and I was happy to be one of the first to get my car. And because I ordered it, the window sticker had my name on it! I might never buy a new car again, but this one was worth it to me.
