After my hike through the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Saturday, I set out exploring again on Sunday afternoon. Acting on a tip, I found this old farmhouse, which has apparently been abandoned for over a decade.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I didn't venture inside, since I was a bit paranoid about trespassing. Plus it looks like someone still cuts the grass occasionally, so maybe the landowner still comes by.

There was also an old barn and a shed behind the house. Again, I didn't go inside, but a glimpse through the door revealed some rusted farming equipment. I was hoping to find the original Bugatti Atlantic prototype. No such luck.

Kinja'd!!!

I always find these types of places to be weirdly fascinating.

My question is how do you stumble across these places and not get chased away with a gun?

Well, they're abandoned. So there's no one there to notice.

The Michelin factory in my town is "abandoned" but cops have chased kids out of there before.

I'm always leery of exploring abandoned properties because it is technically illegal. Doesn't mean I don't like doing it or seeing pictures.

Yeah, I tend to stick with smaller places. An old factory, storefront, warehouse, etc. is more likely to be guarded or occupied by vagrants. A ramshackle farmhouse or hunting cabin in the woods is pretty empty, except for birds, mice, and the occasional raccoon.

I love exploring abandoned places. Used to do a lot of 4-wheeling in the CO mountains and explore abandoned cabins and mining areas. Wouldn't go inside a mine either. It's just so interesting.........like going back in time.

I roamed an abandoned movie theater next to my uncles funeral home. Its now been turned into a doggy spa (of all things)

Looks like maybe an old trucking/freight company. That giant steel door looks almost like a bank vault.

If you like abandoned stuff, check out this site. It's in Russian, but she's gone to some truly amazing places and the photos speak for themselves. http://lana-sator.livejournal.com

World War 2 I think. All military. Second to last pic was a train loading unloading garage. The last picture was the motor pool.

Years ago, when I was a contractor for a railroad, There was this beautiful apple tree filled with gorgeous apples next to the tracks. I went to the door to ask if I could pick a couple. The place appeared to be empty. I looked inside the window and there was this 6' tall safe in a separate room. Talk about fantasy thoughts about what was/might be in there held my thoughts for several days. Great story, Jagvar.
