I will be getting a convertible. Sure, I still have two and a half years left on my lease, but when its up, I will be getting a convertible. I love them so much and down in Florida you can use them so much! The question is what kind?
This here is my main want. I love the newer body style C70. The rims are sharp and the body style is really cool. Plus, the folding power metal roof is really nice and makes it seem like you don't always have a convertible.
The VW Eos is also nice. Why can't they put a TDI in here? If there was, I'd be sold on it.
Luckily they do make the really nice Beetle TDI Convertibles. But can I bring myself to drive a Beetle (its the name that bothers me so much because trying to explain that "no no. I don't drive those rounded Beetles, I drive the newer redesigned one" takes way too much effort. Also, do I get the Turbo instead?
The Nissan 370Z Roadster. This is also a guilty pleasure of mine. Plus, I can get it with a manual transmission. It is quite underrated too. I love the way it looks.
Now this here is the popular choice. Again, I could get a manual in it. I just am not sold on the looks. Hopefully the next body style will sell me more.
The BMW Z4 is also a favorite just because I love the way this thing looks. THe body is so beautiful.
The Ford Mustang is another favorite here. I just think its a bit too big and not luxurious enough for me.
So, my budget is most likely around $25K. Keep in mind that this will be over two years down the road, so I will be getting it used. I want to go to Carmax and Demuro style it with a nice big warranty.
Are there any others I missed?
Thanks!

Why wait when you could buy my car today?
But on a serious note, convertibles are awesome and I cannot recommend them enough. Mustang, Miata, S2000 and MR-S are all great choices.

There is actually someone near me that has one. When I saw it I thought it was a really bad and fake chop job.
Then I looked it up and loved it.

I'd go for the 370Z and avoid the Z4. You can get much more power for that price.

OH MY GOSH! I just looked at that ad last night! I live near Sarasota Craigslist and this thing showed up! Looks in great shape!
Ive always loved convertibles but Oppo isnt the biggest fan since they add weight. But they are so much fun, especially down here.

I could go with a two seater. The challenge will be finding one in my price.. but then again if they start at around $50000 new...

In two and a half years, you'll have missed the boat on the Eos. The 2015 model year will be its last.

Haha yup. Let me me know if you want it. From one Opponaut to another, let me tell you that that price is high on purpose and as long as I can buy a nice NA Miata with the proceeds from the sale, I'll be happy.

GM Kappa car or.... for $25,000 you should be able to buy a Lotus Elise which is a targa top.

I was at a car show yesterday. I still need to post pics from that BTW.
There was a really upgraded one at the show but when I was looking at the body style I was shocked how much it really grew on me. Seems like a rather fun car to drive too.
As for the Elise... Id love one but I don't think Im THAT crazy! Not yet at least.

They are good looking cars! Apparently pretty fun to drive if you can find a Solstice GTP, Saturn Sky Redline, or any one with a manual. Also, 2nd gen Trans Am with T-tops... no? Okay, have it your way.

Convertibles are so impractical they should be second cars. 70mph wind facials feel the same in a $10k car as a $100k car. Buy my car and still have enough left over for a great DD ;) If not, I'd say Honda s2000. What a marvel

I also want to give the convertible lifestyle a try next car buying go around. I gotta say though I'm not a fan of the EOS at all. Just seems like a crazy overpriced golf to me. That Z4 though, holy mother of wants. Last but not least, these should warrant a look.

You could definitely get a pretty decent 987 Boxster (with less than 50k miles) in that price range. Especially if it's in a couple of years. I'd recommend 2009+ if at all possible because that's when they introduced the DFI engines (but only S models).

Volvo if you want class
Eos if you want feminine class
370Z if you like wearing Nissan-branded cloathing
Miata if you're not over 5'8"
BMW if you want high repair bills
'Stang if you want to look like the captain of the cheer team
If it were my money, I'd look at the Volvo and Eos, because although FWD, hardtops plus 200+ HP is a winner in my book

They do make a TDI Eos, my boss had a 2009 TDI, and my Mum has a 2012 147 TSI, both DSG.
Though I understand the TDI isn't available in the US. I've driven both. The petrol one shits on the diesel one. from a great height. The petrol version is only marginally less efficient than the TDI. If you get one, avoid the tan leather, it really doesn't age well.
I think it's one of the few convertibles that are actually faster around a track with the roof down because it lowers the centre of gravity.

I am going to say this very quietly, so I don't get murdered over the internet
I am not a fan of that car. I don't like it, but I don't hate it. I think it is cool because of how nice it is and how ridiculous it is. I would never, ever, ever, ever buy one, but I can see why people might have a soft sport for one because of the extreme weirdness.

Though for the price, a 350Z would be better, can make one faster then a 370 for cheaper ;) and its barely slower to start :P

Also with the Beetle, you'll have to explain that it's a fake Beetle, not one of the classics, because it's not rear engine or rwd like the one designed by Porsche. So, get a classic Beetle convertible? :P Though I'd say the best convertible is a Jeep Wrangler. On this list I'd go either Mustang, Miata, or 370Z. The Mustang is honestly the more girly of the 3 convertible wise.

I wish it was that easy! This is one of the only cars where I prefer the coupé over the roadster. However, if one shows up, I will take it for a test drive!

Its really hard to explain becuase this is what most people first think of when they hear Beetle:
But I can't say New Beetle because if I'm talking to a car person, they will know that New Beetle is the same as thing above.
So I have to say its the newly refreshed Beetle that is more aggresive and manly and then its too much work and I say fuck it.

I dont like the 370's front as much, or its lights.. but I like its body dimensions and its rear hatch better, lol. It's rear hatch doesn't level out all odd and look awful without a spoiler of wing of some sort like the 350's does, If I had my choice Id want a 370 with 350 head and tail lights, and a different front bumper, lol

Yeah, If I could Chop and Weld a little bit. I could create the perfect balance. I'd do the same, except the interior from the 370 and the wheels also.

Well of course the interior :P it's roomier in the 70, or so I hear, the wheels I'd want to replace with TE37's regardless :P ...speaking of which, I'm getting new tires soon... not new wheels yet though D: was gonna wait and see if I could afford wheels this year, but now one of my tires has a nail in it -.-

One of my Bridgestone Potenza's :( luckily they were pretty beat up tires...and those are the tires that come on the car stock..it's low milage...8 year old tires?...Probably for the best I get some new rubbers, lol, I'm hoping for Michelin Pilot Super Sports though :)
