Been playing back Need For Speed Underground 2

Dang.. It brought back sweet memories. It got me thinking, I remember the time that there were no seperate DLCs to buy a car I want, great customization and a storyline in a racing game. Most new game can't beat the sixth gen consoles era of games. Imho, most of these types of new games focused more on graphics than the story/plot. there's no balance between the two. Just take a look at the Need for speed Most wanted. The old one was for me, a superb racing games in its era. great selection of cars, customization and even a great story to it while the reboot is just a glorified Burnout Paradise with license cars. There's no storyline whatsoever, no sense of progression or even customization. When I play a racing game, I want to feel the satisfaction of buying a customizing a car that I have earn not by unlocking it early in the game. What do you guys think?

Nah, the huge-ass wing got it covered but too much vtec might be dangerous to the manifold tho.

One of my favorite games. Though I hated that you had to rice the hell out of your car to 100% the game. But that's what Hondas are for. I always used the 240sx, FD and GTO for the races.

Need for Speed fell off my radar after Hot Pursuit. That game was p good. The Run was atrocious and everything after was subpar. Pro Steet was honestly not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

IDK, I liked the older NFS. Hot Pursuit 2 was a great game. After that things started getting really stupid. I felt that NFS was the racing game for people who didn't really like cars. I've played them, I've enjoyed them, but it wasn't really satisfying like Forza or GT. I get that the whole story line is cool, but I thought it was the dumbest thing that I had to unlock things to buy. I have $80,000, I shouldn't have to buy a Peugot, win a challenge, then do more races, just to buy a Viper I could afford two hours ago. I like Forza and the points system. You can buy whatever you want, buy you can't always race it. Two very different games, but that's my take. I never liked the nitrous blue glow blur or the half speed maneuver features. Pro street, IMHO, was probably the best NFS. Everything else (modern NFS) seemed a bit silly. I know some people like it, I'm just a fan of realism.

I only reserved one car to be riced. I usually used the Supra to race.

No sadly. But it was all riced out with spinners, NOS, and flames on the side. Good times.

Yeah. I love to play Forza or GT6 too but for me, Need for speed felt much more arcade-ish than those two. The things that I hate the most in those new NFS is EA stubbornness to listen what fans want. They had created a huge fan-base that love to riced/modified cars. why do they exclude the customization feature on the reboot MW. Let's face it, majorities of NFS gamers love to customize their cars. why did the strip that feature away? being a NFS fan, it's like being slap to the face lol. on the other hand, Prostreet was an under-rated NFS game. hands down.

yup Prostreet was an under-rated NFS game. It have unique features that forza did not have lol. (like putting sponsor decal on the windshield)

I still keep my PS2 around for this, Midnight Club 3, and San Andreas. Underground 2 has to be up there with my all time favorite games.

This game and the original Most Wanted are my favourite racing games of all time. I've played through them so many times I've lost count.

While I think Underground 2 is a solid game, I still don't see why it's considered the holy grail of NFS... in terms of general fun-ness I think the Most Wanted reimagination has it beaten.

Oh, many memories playing this. Very arcadey but not as choppy/cartoon infinite grip/handling as newer games. Hard to beat for easy, visual upgrading. Silly story (Duh) but very linear in cars/cash/upgrades. Very fun. And SUV street racing!! With NOS! Say what?!
