a friend of mine did that. the paint on the braking surface was obv gone within the hour, but the one on the edge stayed on for a surprising amount of time (I think 2 years? that, or he kep touching it up) and it was actually not that bad looking. defiantly better then having a nice, shiny surface and then rust around the edge.

Count me impressive, i was in doubts that it'd hold up for much longer then a week due to brake heat...

he DID use high temp brake paint (pretty much enamel in a can), and he was not autocrossing the car (we don't have them in Ontario. or none tht I have heard off)
If you use High temp paint, the only reason it should come off id on the braking surface itself. other then that, it should stay on.

I know it'll stay on the caliber, since dad bought one that had them painted, along with the rear drums. Just unsure about the disc itself.

again, my friend didn't get his up to any extreme heat cycles, and i'm not sure if he touched them up or not. but last I saw those brakes, the were still bright and yellow (he sold car the, dunno where it is now)

Yeah paint on the braking surface is just stupid. But then again if you are doing this you probably don't have good pads anyways. But seriously, it is a bad idea to paint the surface where the pad contacts as it fucks up the transfer layer and will clog up your pads with paint and make them less effective. Paint your calipers all you want but just be smart about it.
