after the stancing fad dies down, finding original, non-molested JDM cars is gonna be sooooo haaaaard. Maybe to the point where they become super rare.
please don't hate me for saying that, because we do need to keep some of them fairly well preserved for the later generations. It came across to me after GISing 240Zs and all of them are heavily modified to points beyond return.

Or, we make sure today's cars can be had by future generations!

Everyone has their own theory on what type of cars will become the super rare collectibles of the future. It could be what are the tuner cars of today. Actually that might be a good start, just look at how much a good condition, numbers match, stock muscle car will go for.
Personally I love the econo-boxes of yesteryear. I don't know if they will become super expensive, but they are super cheap now (most can be picked up in near mint condition for under $5000 and could be fun to show the history of automobiles. I'm talking early 90's Accords, Ford Escorts, whatever. I know a lot of people laugh when I mention these, but in 30 years how many Cadillac Allantes will exist with less than 50k miles? Isn't that how car collections are born? You buy what you like the maintain them over the years.
Just my theory. Either way, I like the cars because they are a time capsule into daily life of the past. I think some of the most interesting cars are the ones people forget about, no matter how boring they may seem. Just my opinion.

Yes and no. I cant see 90's cars being worth much in the future. OP has a point though a car like an unmodded s-chassis for example would be very rare and have some value. but will it be valuable like an unmodded 1970 ls6 or even ls5 Chevelle, doubtful in this country.

Between stancing and turn-of-the-millenium import tuning, yeah, that's true. I wonder what can be done about it though...

When stance dies, it will be replaced by something even dumber.

You just have to find the right 90's cars.
Most were boring ugly things. The exceptions seem to be all foreign, the Eclipse / Eagle, Viper, NSX, Integra, Prelude, 3000GT/ Stealth... OK At least America made the Viper.
