I've been helping my grandma move her junk out of a storage building, and organize it for the last 3 days. well, the lady who lives across the street from her, who I lend a hand every month or so, has given up driving, and gave me her '88 2 dr blazer.
i'm all kinds of excited. it's got the injected 2.5 iron duke, an less than 80k miles. (not the one in the pic, like it, without the 2-tone & sidesteps) i'm still kinda in awe, but it goes to show, karma tends to work itself out, and if you can help someone, help them without any expectations. we're still moving stuff, but now I've gotta get this thing running.
need moar driveway!

the body and interior is pretty good, the last time I really got to look it over I was flushing the radiator & replacing water hoses, so I hope all is well. i'll get pics when I get it cleaned up, it hasn't been touched since 1/12.

Awesome! Congrats. I owned an 85 Jimmy much like this one back in 98. Solid rig.

for sure, I helped a friends dad put one of these chassis's under a 30's chevy, and it's still driving around somewhere, and i'm pretty sure the iron duke is one of the most reliable engines ever built (not too sure about the efi models)

Mine was a rust bucket underneath but man would it go anywhere! It finally died my senior year of h.s. right before I left for college. What color is the interior? Blue? Mine was red and black.

Congrats, that's about the proper amount invested. Oil seals, , check for oil leaks and maybe look at gaskets re: oil. Pay attention to it and keep ahead of things.
They're designed to keep going despite maintenance, so actually working on it should make it last a bit longer.
My old bosses' approach of keeping about twice the capacity in spare oil available at all times was not the best one, it seems. Man that s10 window was greasy.

the paint looks like it used to be black, and was rubbed with oil, so it's kinda got a blue tinge to it, and the interior is red vinyl. when I get the 1/2" thick layer of dust off it i'll get pics.
