The comments on the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! are about what you'd expect. The usual complaints about the automatic, the drop top, old guys driving 5 mph under the speed limit, where's the fixed roll bar for track days, etc.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Well let me just go on record and say: I will be buying a C7 Z06 convertible...someday.
I love convertibles. I had a Miata for 4 years. It was my only car. In Madison WI. I drove it year round, with Blizzaks in winter. I like the wind in my face. I like having no roof over me. It feels great. To me there are few greater pleasures than driving a car with no roof, to nowhere in particular.
Owning a Miata gives you a strong sense of not giving a fuck about people thinking your car is stupid/impractical/for hairdressers/for old guys/for gay guys. And like the NBA commercials say, using gay as an insult just ain't right. But it's the first direction idiot bros tend to go when looking to make fun of a Miata.
I also love performance cars, even if I mostly use that performance darting though traffic on my way to work, or heading out into the country on the weekend. I appreciate the occasional trip to the track, but for the most part I just like performance cars because they're fun.
So sign me up for a C7 Z06 convertible. Let the purists, the wannabe track rats, the trolls, and anyone else talk all the shit they feel like. I won't give a fuck. I'll be blowing the wind over my bald head with all 625 horsepower and laughing about it every second.
I'll probably get the manual though.

Kind of related: The Z06 looks fucking sick in blue!
And when you do buy it, DD it in the winter with blizzaks. You'd be a legend.

Kudos to you. I wanted to make this point but I was too lazy. Thanks for saying what needs to be said.
Anyone who talks shit on soft tops is a tool. Who cares if there is a track version of a car turned into a convertible and that it probably won't be tracked? Most cars that could be tracked don't get tracked. Who am I to tell you not to buy a Z06 convertible? If you love the Z06 and want to be able to put the top down and go canyon carving with it then all the power to you. Will a Stringray Z51 be fast enough for that purpose? Yes. But who cares. If you want the Z06 you want the Z06. I think it looks awesome and will be a hoot to drive. I almost like the looks better than the coupe.
I wish I could buy a Ferrari 16M right now. That's also a convertible version of a track focused car. I know if I bought it a lot of people would call me an idiot for buying a track focused soft top and a tool for it not having a stick. But I would give exactly zero fucks.

I do have a thing for blue convertibles. This is my old Miata:
But I don't think I'd put Blizzaks on the Z06, now that I've experienced the joys of having a winter truck.

Hear! Hear! I guess GM could have called it something other than Z06 but does it really matter that much? As for idiots who rant about old guys driving Corvettes, fuck them. Is a 35 year old with two kids supposed to be the one driving a two seat performance car? Most young single people don't have the money to buy them new so it's up to the Olds to buy these cars in order for them to filter down to younger people as the years go by.

Ah come on Brian. You're saying you wouldn't want a Serene River Blue or Soulful Sky Blue Z06?

Maybe if it was named Murder Blue I'd reconsider.

Spot on. If you don't like the drop top, get the coupe. But some of us (myself included) will never take the car to a track day and want performance, power, and as much sunlight as possible for cruising across country.
Now if only I had an extra $100k.

Why cry? Hopefully they are tears of joy because it is Laguna as in Laguna Seca.

Exactly. Back in the day all or almost all of the colors were named for racetracks.
