because then, I can buys car parts :D only real worry about it atm (other then whether or not I get the raise or not) is.. will it make me sick and tired of stick shifts? I pray not. Hopefully buying car parts and making a race car will allow me to continue to love it :) Why would my job make me hate stick shifts possibly? Well.. I have heard people who do it saying they don't enjoy it like they used to. and the job in question entirely has everything to do with the picture included in this post, so...that explains it.

Kinja'd!!!

But still....car parts? Hopefully :)

I've always wanted know why they paint the tops white.

Good luck!

I think they are semi translucent so less light required. Maybe less heat absorption so less cooling? I think, I don't know

Kinja'd!!!1

I could be completely off here, but I thought the tops were designed to let light in so the driver could more easily see the packages in the back during the day. Seems to me I read that somewhere, but on the other hand my brain might have just made it up. I'm guessing Itchys2 knows the real scoop. :-)

I'm not sure, I know not all of them are though, but like NotUnless said, maybe for light? I have noticed that when the suns out, some of them will light up with natural light through the ceiling. So might be that

I have no idea, never even thought about it honestly, not all are white but.. I'd guess your right? Some do let sun light in through the roof/ceiling, so very good guess I'd say.

Good Luck with it!

I'm surprised/confused how these guys get around!

Oh, and I hope they don't get rid of the MT trucks. Those are Badass.

Thanks! Now Spaceball got me curious and I did a little poking around. Other folks are citing two reasons:

1. Let light into the back of the truck

2. The lighter color helps keep the back of the truck cooler than a brown roof would.

I read it on the Interwebs, so it must be true!

Yeah, the older guys walk faster then me somtimes O.o that might have to change of course :P I want to drive one of the UPS Ford Transit's, lol, but our building only has one and it's used for..honestly, I dont know.. I think it's mostly to run packages that should of been in that truck, to this truck, and to run late packages out to..variious trucks, lol. The automatic trucks they have are so much nicer in the way of volume for sure, the MT's are loud as shit in the cabin. I'd be ok with a auto, then drive the Z home to make myself happy :P I'll end up with manuals of course though ifn I get the job, old guys get the autos im sure, haha

Haha, The Pay is really nice. In my area at least, I've talked with a driver making 70K+ every year. I sorta want some type of job where I don't have to spend the entire day inside of an Office. I'd DD a manual Ups truck for sure, Lol.

Kinja'd!!! CPT Speedbump > jkm7680

Kinja'd!!!1

It does, lol, hense car parts ;) pretty much the only reason anyone does this job, and the reason people dont want to not do it - pay, and benefits. Pretty much what drivers say to. All it is is pay, and bennifits, only reasons to do it, lol, and they seem like they'd be more cool then they are, most the trucks are piles of junk really. Doesnt help that that shitty managment system is likke " no, we dont need new equipment, but I sure could use that bonus for doing such a good job with old equipment" then they look to us are are like "hurry up" and we're like "we can't, all this equipment is shitty" lol

I'm thinking of a Career change soon. What I currently do, I work for around 5 hours, and for the rest of the time. I'm just sitting around doing close to nothing. Besides Oppo, annoying Co-Workers and fixing stuff.

Where I work (Hellish IT) we work off the "No need for 21st century equipment" philosophy applies. What I use a Compaq, Ps/2 ports and Flappy drive also included, which explains it in a nutshell. The other departments get their Fancy Macs, and Windows 8 Blah. We'll eventually acquire their older Mac computers eventually.

Kinja'd!!!1

Cus old Mac's are soooo great, right ? Yeah, I'd kill someone if my job involved mostly computers, and they gave me outdated computers. The biggest faulty equipment issues I run into are..printers (print out labels for box's saying what truck they go to) and scanners (to scan box in order to make printer...print) they stop working and break alllll the time. Also, sooooo many things the company as a whole could do to make everything faster, easier, simpler, but nope. Burn billions of dollars a day instead. I just work 4 hours a day....moving box's mostly, haha, hopefully soon I'll have to move less box's, just further and using a truck rather then my hands ;) 30+ years of box moving ahead of me probably :P

Haha, Sounds like a slightly more interesting job.

I looked into working at home for a while, then I remembered the best part of the day is actually commuting. I work about an hour away depending on traffic and whatnot, the Sucky part is Rush hour traffic.

Kinja'd!!! CPT Speedbump > jkm7680
04/11/2014 at 20:13

Kinja'd!!!0

Commuting for me is fun in the morning for sure atm 2-3 am - no traffic. Can usually spot cops easy too, if I'm running late I take the back roads to avoid them, lol, probably going to be riding my bike to work soon, which should also be pretty fun. The drive back is around 8-9, so have to deal with all the stupid traffic of ..normal people work hours, lol

Damn, that's early. I luckily enough for me live in the only state where radar detectors are illegal. Lucky me. My commute is mainly highways, and speed traps. I usually head back around 6-9 depending on how Nice/Mean my boss is feeling.

Haha, just make sure to promptly ignore the "Speed Limit Enforced By Aircraft" signs. 100/1000 times a plane will be seeing how fast you are going. The rest of the time, it's just a Delta Jet or something along those lines.

I've never gotten pulled over, but I've gotten away with quite some shit, Haha.

Kinja'd!!! CPT Speedbump > jkm7680

I used to get pulled over for literally nothing, then let go when I was 18-19, and I've gotten away with some shit too, lol, have gotten one ticket though -.- probably the most amazing thing I've gotten away with is peaking a crest - brights on, while a cop was coming up the other side (didnt know their was a car there even) so i turned off my brights as soon as i saw headlights, then saw it was a cop.. was 2 in the morning and I was doing 85 in a 35 (having fun) anndddd..well, he didn't turn his lights on, or even turn around. Sooooo, I'm lucky, lol

Haha, When I see a Cop on the side of the road. I go complete Grandma mode. I'll even hunch down a little bit, and blast classical music. It sorta works.

I also hate Speed Cameras. I haven't racked any of those up surprisingly enough. I have the feeling that blasting down a Work Zone at 90 Mph might render one or two. I use that "Phantom Plate" stuff which hopefully works :)

Kinja'd!!! CPT Speedbump > jkm7680
04/11/2014 at 21:51

Kinja'd!!!0

I usually just slow down to the speed limit, in the school zone if i see one I just stare at my speedo, haha. I sometimes reactoin brake when I see one if I'm speeding, but then im just like..that makes it obvious, so then i let off and naturally slow down, haha. I dont think we have to many around here speed camera wise, whenever they set up those traffic cables (one or 2 cables) I know the 2 cables also does speed, so I'll go through on my way to work and try and set a crazy high speed run on them so they have alteast one random insane speed, lol, then if they're still there on a Friday night, I'll get one going the other way, haha

My Dad was a UPS driver for 17 years, his back is fucked because their doctor told him his back was sprained for 5 years. It was actually 3 of his thoracic disks were ruptured. 2 surgeries later and a tiny ass settlement, he is now "retired". Good luck.

He should of probably pushed for more, I know a guy who worked for them years before me, his leg slipped between a backed up truck and the deck where he was loading the truck from, he broke his leg, and ups gave him a pretty large settlement for it. Probably depends how hard you push for it I'd think. Sorry to here aabout your dad, I know back surgeries usually result in limited movement. not fun

What'd you tell her? and was she yelling because of the kids? I'd of been like "yeah, I was flipping off the bus driver for endangering the kids by driving in on coming traffic, which is illegal and stupid" I went cruising last night, and at one point, accidentally..somehow..smoked a Mustang GT O.o No idea how, lol

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > CPT Speedbump

She was yelling at me "The driver was just doing her job, Blah blah blah" I had my window up the entire time though, Haha.

It was endangering the Kids also, I had to jam the brakes fairly hard. I didn't have a clue that she was stopping. She literally just put the yellow lights on a second earlier.

Oh, that reminds me. Some guy in a riced out Civic tried to race with me a while back. It not only sounded like a weed whacker, but drove like a Lawn Mover. Damn that car was slow if he was really putting the hammer down.

Endangering kids isn't in her job description I'm sure, getting them home safe and obeying road law probably is though, lol. And I actually ran a nice Civic a few weeks ago, barely had him into the top of 2nd, but then he'd shift, drop back, id shift, and maintain my lead. All thanks to my 7k rev limit :P Ran a old school Golf and a TDI Jetta yesterday, the Golf was awesome, the TDI owner thought he was awesome (he wasn't) both were slow though, lol

Yeah, I called the local district later on in the day. The school bus drivers around here suck. I got cut off by one not signalling while on my Motorcycle. Luckily it was empty.

I haven't ran many people in my A4. It's fairly stock and unsuspecting so I would usually have to start things.

I want the suspension and brakes done first so that whatever path I decide to go with power wise - the suspension can handle it and the brakes can stop it. And I might as well do tires and wheels while I'm at it, since those are just as important for handling and stopping, lol. Then..money depending - LS swap? S/C built motor? TT built motor? ....thennn, add lightness :) lots of lightness :P

Z's can weight alot, in my case, the interior strip will do most of the weight, because the roll cage and race seats will probably weigh less then 6 airbags, lol. I was thinking LS3, but thats expensive :P
