And there are quite a foe others for 65k.

I too could almost pay off my house for $60, but what fun would that be? My house does not go 0-60 in 3.something seconds...

$63K for 600-fucking-HP, and stock 10s. That gets double digit MPG somehow. That might even still be under warrenty.

Fucking hell...

I work for a mortgage company. You midwest fucks get all the luck in housing prices.

I could mortgage a 4000 sq. ft. house for less than the rent in my 2 bedroom apartment!

It all works out to YOUR benefit.

Your cost of living is drastically higher, but your income is higher. We get paid very little to afford our houses, but unfortunately that means all the "fun stuff" costs a shit load more to us.

For example, that $1,000 new TV that can be purchased by you is a drastically smaller percentage of your income than mine. To me, I gotta save BIG time for that.

That $30,000 car? Mostly unattainable new. Just think about that next time you buy an Audi.

I'm assuming you're on the east coast? NYC?

Having been around Corvettes (mostly vintage, admittedly) for a long time, I can tell you that every time a new model is introduced, ALL the previous generation models decline sharply in price. After about 10 years, they start to creep back up. The C4 has recently gone from ironic, to ironic-cool, and the prices on them have been going back up. Hell, try and find a C4 ZR-1 for less than Ferrari money of the same vintage. You used to be able to attribute this to the lifespan of the average Corvette buyer, who was already of advanced age, knocking off, and their wives selling their cars to go on European vacations with the tennis or golf coach they'd been banging for the last 5 years. The C5 is a bit of an aberration, though. The oldest C5 Z06 is still found at rock-bottom prices. Sure, there are some nutters asking top dollar, but clean examples can be had for cheap. Of course, EVERYONE had a C5. At one point, they were more common than the Cobalt. At any given cruise night or Cars & Coffee, there were at least 10 bone stock C5s there, and at least 3/4 of them were automatics. Give it time, and they'll somehow become classics as well. Now before you 'vette guys get your gold chains tangled up in your exposed chest hair, know that I do love Corvettes. I've owned them, and will gladly own more. But let's be realistic about who is driving them, by and large.

I grew up in North NJ so I know the real estate differences. I think the real trick is to live in the expensive area most of your life then sell off your house and move to a cheap area.

Your point about the other non-housing commodities being more expensive for you is well-taken, though.

And yeah, either that or work in an expensive ass area and buy a nice house in the sticks.

yep that works too.

I get on my one friend who still lives in NJ and has quite a bit of cash on hand a lot for it.

I wish they could adjust all prices could be adjusted regionally, but you assholes on the east coast would drive out here, by the cheap stuff and drive home ruining the whole thing for everybody!

I was out one night with my sister and some other friends and I was a little intoxicated, so I thought I would bring cheer to the local beach community by spreading the joy of giving random strangers high fives. The last one I got was from a scared older gentleman who was behind the wheel of a nice blue ZR-1, he didn't even indulge me in a quick rev of the motor nor a spirited squirt of the throttle when he took off from the light. . . He seemed more offended that I knew that he was driving a ZR-1 than anything else.

If you do end up with one in your garage, indulge random weirdos with glorious sounds of the supercharged V8 variant.

This concludes another "cool story, Bro!" Brought to you by Squid.

I always indulge people with my glorious engine sounds, even when they don't ask for it. Like the hundred or so people who were trying to enjoy the show at the Bellagio fountains as I took my straight piped Mustang for a ride and decided I liked the sound of my engine better than the song that was on. I believe I scared roughly 30% of the viewers and pissed off approximately 90%. it was glorious.
