So, first I would like to thank everyone for their wonderful suggestions to yesterday's !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Luckily I didn't need to cut anything. Had a can of PB Blaster and wiggled the old muffler off. So after I did that, with the new muffler right in the truck, I did what any OPPO would do. I didn't put it on yet. And, like the title suggests, holy shit, my 1971 economy family car sounded like a monster. Sort of like an Impreza WRX with a free'd up exhaust system. No cats, one long skinny resonator, and nothing else. So, being a 19 year old, just listening wasn't enough, I had to share the music with the world. I drove around, hit the highway, then went to the mall. No, not to pick up the ladies, it's 11AM on a Friday and I'm not 12 anymore. No, I went to hear my new and improved car in the parking garage. The damn thing is rumbling, popping like fireworks when I lift, and echoing like a 159 piece choir in a cave. I drive up the parking garage and people are looking, some smiling. A small child says 'wow, look mommy.' I have a shit eating grin on. I keep driving and I don't want to go past 2K RPM because it will make babies cry and panties immediately weight as much as an anvil. IT'S TOO LOUD. I feel like I have to throw up, I have a headache, I can't drive around people, but it's sooo much fun. After this post and a late breakfast (it's after 1 and yes car work comes before meals), I will go put the Ansa sport exhaust on, pop a few Advil, and go scare more young children.

Good not to rev overmuch, as a lot of cars aren't really built to operate without one. Still kind of a fun thing to rumble at everyone.

I've done this on both my 3.6l Jag XJ40 and my 2.5l Alfa 156 V6.

Fucking excellent :)

I put a exhaust cut out on a 1st gen RX7 and it would shoot flames on the roll. Manual chokes are awesome! Used to wear ear plugs with ear muffs to cruse with it open.

Oh shit, I have a manual choke. Is it that much better? I don't want a flamethrower because the exhaust stops right before the rear axel.

It can be. Mine exited out the side and I could pull the choke out and downshift and throw fire about 6 feet. The rotary had a lot to do with it, but the choke helped out. I wouldn't worry about it in your car. I was doin' it deliberate.

This is most definitely approved behaviour.

No worry for you. the rotary as the main cause and I was trying to do it.

I did that last year on my Ranger when the exhaust fell off at the intermediate pipe. Man did that little 3 liter 6 sound amazing.

Ah ok, thanks!

It's too often these days that people post stories like these and don't specify the type of car they are talking about, I understand that many of the regulars know what other regulars drive, but sometimes I just can't remember or I forget.

I put mine in my name name partially for that reason. It makes things easier.
