I really want an 8 Track player in the '70 Mustang because...

...a modern head unit won't fit into any of the crevices (AC vent area, radio area, or HVAC control panel area).

And then I saw this:

And now I really want a CB radio in there too. Don't know who I'd talk to, but I just want it .

But for regular players, I can't decide between two:

Buy a cheaper one and fix a sticky button or buy an expensive one that works?

Buy the shitty one and hide a real radio somewhere else.

You should think about hiding a head unit in the glove box. My dad's 64 Dodge Police Car has one hidden in there, he puts a CD of cop radio sounds on when he parks at a car show hahaha.

I prefer going no radio in my 68 Montego though.

oh and definitely get a CB, that just seems fun

Also found this one, but I just have a feeling it isn't in great shape.

they don't make a retro looking one that fits the stock hole? I've been looking to replace the factory am radio in my 68 camaro and have looked at a few modern units that look like the factory optional am/fm

That's a mighty fine offer, thank you. I'm asking one guy in the area about one he pulled from a Mustang II, so if that falls through I'd be very thankful. I'd even pay shipping if you can give me the box dimensions and weight (I love USPS online). I'd even send a thank you momento from the car back

But I'm looking at the picture, and I'm a tad confused. Where does the tape insert into?

the radio frequency indicator flips up when you put the tape in there. I know the light on that works. I think the pots could use a quick shot of electronic cleaner but that is it. Just a few pops throughout the range when turning the volume up. Beyond that I would love to find a good home for it. Just let me know

Actually the more I think about it, the more this might work.

That's what I usually see, but I like being able to have it within arm's reach, rather than having the passenger being my personal DJ.

I don't think I could stand not having a radio, especially driving on my own.

I would get a CB if I could inspect one in person and not worry about getting one of teh internet that doesn't actually work. Plus, I'm worrying about the radio, but I still have to completely overhaul the 302! Can't wait for this school year to be done so I can just WORK instead of online window shopping.

They do, but a lot of them are out of my budget for a nonessential part :/

Reality is that an 8-track tape will likely self-destruct the first play. I usually have the recording equipment set up already.

Take a shell from an 8-track, gutting the works so it's a iPhone dock. I could do that, just a matter of re-wiring a few things. Just a very limited market..

Quick tip for the 302, because I have one in my Montego.

Don't be afraid to shop 289 or 351W parts! My Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake is a 289. Oh, and it was $50+ cheaper than any other 302 intake on Craigslist, and it was freshly painted!

I actually have 3 full 302 and a 289 engine and various parts, so I'm good on parts, I just need the time to put it all together!

Eh I'd lose all my parts savings driving out there from the Detroit area.
