Very cool. On a somewhat related note the ohc Corvair engine is one of my all time "wish it happened" things in all of automotive-dom.

You can only imagine where GM would be had they not stopped innovating after the early 60s.

I wouldn't say they stopped innovating they just got more conservative, and the new ideas became less and less radical. The same thing happened more or less to every manufacturer.
Every decade GM had a least a few crazy prototypes/concepts 50s- Firebird/60s Monza GT/70 Aerovettes/ 80s Olds Aero/90s...Azetk?/00s Hywire

In the early 60's they had fuel injection, turbos, a number of cars with IRS, multiple carbs. But by '70, single carbs, straight axles (aside from the Corvette), cheap to make was the name. Turbos wouldn't start to peek back until the 301 Firebird which was a really half assed attempt. IRS didn't come back until they were all FWD. Fuel injection came back as TBI at first before slowly working into MPFI.
GM had great show cars, but when it came to production cars, they stopped trying for at least a decade and a half.
