Remember people; Airplanes are TOUGH. They exist at that rare intersection in engineering where cost is of lesser concern than weight savings and strength, and the results are a little mind blowing.

I think most people would be surprised just how much deflection a wing can take before failure. That being said, I bet that was a hell of a ride in. I can almost hear the kids crying now, and smell the sweat from everyone on board with a death-grip on their seats.
