Love the Stag. That pink/fuchsia is frightening, though.

Holy shit, there's a Stag in the US with it's original V8? Considering how readily Americans yank out XKs from E-Types (and people over here swap RV8s in), I'm surprised the slightly iffy Stag V8's found a home anywhere :)

Saying that, the V8 itself isn't actually all that bad. 145bhp might sound a bit weak, but compared to the other 3.0l cars knocking about Europe at that time it's solidly midfield.

Also, it's the truly lacklustre way they were put together that caused most of the overheating problems. A couple of times I've heard of people rebuilding them and pouring out half a kilo of casting sand from the waterways. Stuff like that would cause overheating in any engine :)

I have a lot of respect for tiny V8's are there any good speed parts for them on your side the pond?

Or....you could just rattle can the trunk area and hoon the shit out of this thing on the cheap!

It's not just the trunk, look at the interior shot.

There's certainly a lot of reliability mods :) that's what people tend to aim for with these engines.

I know these guys do things like cylinder head porting, Holley carbs and tubular manifolds. That should be good for about 180bhp-ish, which is pretty reasonable.

I also know of a chap called Tony Hart who went racing with Stags, just to prove it could be done. I think he managed to coax 270bhp out of one in a reliable package, so they've certainly got legs.

Personally, I want to adapt a pair of Dolomite Sprint heads onto the Stag V8 for a 32v 3.0l :) you need to do a good deal of modification, but it is technically possible.
