Well the weather finally cleared up for a week in the Pacific Northwest. That gave me the perfect opportunity to start parting out the Camaro. I got home about 6pm so I had about 2 hours before the sun went down to get some parts off the beast.
Some of you may remember that !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for a swap. Due to some recent home expansion projects, my garage has been demolished and all the work on the swap project will be done outside. First order of business was to get the rear end out so I could get the (stock) exhaust out without cutting it up. For some reason, everyone wants a stock Z28 exhaust, so this baby needs to come out and go up for sale.
I got the jack stands and the jack out and made sure to prop it up in the most sketchy position possible.
With the wheels and tires off, the battle with the rear end began. Most of it was pretty straight forward. Just unhook the wheel speed sensors, e-brake cables and brake fluid lines. Detach the driveshaft and sway bar, shocks and track bar. At that point it falls to the floor by the trailing arms. Once the trailing arms are disconnected, it just rolls right out.
Of course, all of this takes way more time than it should when you are using plain hand tools. Unfortunately, the air compressor and air tools went to my brother's place when the garage came down. Hindsight: should have kept them around. The worst part of the whole ordeal is actually the sway bar end links. Backing a 1/2" nut off nearly 2" of rusty, mud covered threads is no joke. The first one snapped off after 4-5 turns and the other one got so hot that the PB blaster started smoking near the end. It's pretty impressive how much heat energy you can put into steel with just your bare hands.
The final result? With failing light, the rear end was out. Only took me 2 hours to get a car off the ground and do a job I have never done before. As I put the iron girder and my tools in the shed in the dark, I felt pretty accomplished. Tonight, the exhaust.

What interior is in the car and what year is it?

2002 with black leather power seats, leather door panels. I was actually really surprised at the quality of the interior. The car had 82000 miles on it, but everything is pretty much mint. It was probably somebody's baby, but it got totaled and now it's mine to shred as I wish.

would you be interested in selling the complete interior? I'm tired of the grey cloth in my 98 ss

If you aren't going to re-use the sway bar end links, trailing arms, etc just sawzall them. Even when I do swaps for other people I will ask permission and then just cut 'em and replace with new/upgraded stuff if they say OK.

Yeah, it's all for sale, but selling it long distance gets spendy fast. Interior would have to go freight, and that's not cheap at all.

I prefer the mustang to the camaro so I didn't say this....but the early 2000s and late 90s camaros are so much better than the mustangs of that era.

I was just in a scenario last week where I had the option to pickup a parts car (for the rear end), but didnt want to deal with/effectively know how to get rid of it afterwards (i.e. tow-ability).
What are your plans for getting rid of the shell once you've done carving it up?

LKQ will probably come get it, and they will pay a few bucks. If not, I know some scrappers that will cut up anything you hand them the title to.

Interesting, I guess I had assumed it had to be towed away for someone to [want to] scrap, thanks

Can't wait to source a LS swap candidate for my T/A. I imaging it'll be a lot like this. Or more vanny.

Consider getting one of these .
I have one and while it is kinda bulky, it actually puts out more torque than my Craftsman air impact driver. I use it if air tools won't budge something. So far none of the rusted fasteners on my '64 pickup have been able to resist it.
