Assuming you could actually find a running Biturbo that wasn't rusted out, is it worthy of Jalop cred? Or is it just all-around terrible?

"Worst Maserati"

You're disqualifying the alleged Maserati that dare not speak its name, then, the TC. Unless you think it's better than the Biturbo, which, hmm.

Well, I wasn't counting the Chrysler.

I wouldn't call it a bad car, just not nearly on the same level as it's kin. It's like the Catera wasn't a bad car at all, but I never put on the same level as the STS and certainly not a CTS today nor a '56 Caddy.

1) RWD

2) Twin turbo V6

3) Manual trans available

I'd say it's Jalop-worthy.

I owned 2 of them. If you can keep the rust off of them and the suede interior clean from all the grease you accumulate working on it, they are pretty fun rides. 2 turbos and a carb. Should be a song. The post lag is explosive

It looks very debonair, like a finely-spritzed gentleman sipping a Manhattan.

It's up there in the Jalop-scale, might not be reliable or durable, but they must be fun and I think they don't go for much money (in comparison to their siblings)

To be fair, though, there's a reason they don't go for much money these days.

Yeah, cheap to boy, not to own. You can't have everything, that's why I hope they are tons of fun... when they run.

Guy down the street from me was selling a nice one in the winter because he was moving. Wanted to much for me but it would be an interesting car to own

SO MUCH LOVE :)

How's this for a list of good words (on later cars):

Twin-turbo intercooled oversquare all-alloy 3v-per cylinder V6 running through a 5-speed Getrag dogleg gearbox to a torsen-LSD semi-trailing arm independent rear suspension.

Never mind the rust, that's an awesome spec :)

In its least powerful configuration they can keep up with an E30 M3 (in a straight line, if not in the corners). Later cars were much more powerful and had the handling brought up to scratch.

It's the car that killed Maserati in the 80s, subsequently resurrected it in the 90s, and then supported it all the way through to 2001.

Get one that's been taken care of, and it should be a solid driver. Especially the later 24v cars. Avoid the early cars if you must. They're the ones that earnt them their reputation, although it took them until 1991 to fix the rust issues with galvanised chassis'.

Ideally, what i want is a boxy early lightweight SWB car with a chemical-dipped and electrolysis-painted bodyshell, the 2.8l TTV6 from a 222 and the LSD rear from a later car.

Yes please :)

Is there any car I like that you haven't owned?

Which two did you have?

Now that's a dream find :) the supply seems to be drying up a little unfortunately, especially ones that aren't in minty condition.

Tell me about it. If I hadn't bankrupted myself on the Spitfire I'd have another XJ40, a Toledo and an SD1 sitting outside at least, maybe an MGB GT Sebring shell awaiting a V8 swap as well.

What happened to them in the end?
