To put it short, it was really good. Probably one of the best romance anime I've ever seen! (Of course I expect nothing less from the person who wrote Toradora) I loved the fact that it takes place in college and not high school! Also that the characters confess their love to each other by the 7th episode (out of 24) and that the rest of the episodes are put extensively into character development and the awesome story!

Speaking of the characters, I loved them all and I felt like they all were there to contribute something to the story and weren't just filler, with exception for "2D-kun" but I loved him so he gets a pass. Also I've heard some people complain about Kouko's character being weird however I really liked her character as she didn't try to fit into any type of archetype of anime girls (tsundere, dandere, kuudere, etc. if you don't know what those are google is your friend) but rather she felt like her own unique thing! It felt like she did actions because that's what her character would do, not because she was trying to fit into an archetype.

One other thing I like about Golden Time is that it uses the entire amnesia plot point in a way that I've never seen it used before! They use it in almost an Evangelion-ish mindfuck type of way, I can't really tell you how because it's a major plot spoiler, but just trust me, it's done well!

Also the visuals were pretty awesome in places (J.C. Staff is really good at drawing dark environments, they know this because half the show takes place at night!) and while there was never really anything breath taking, the entire show looks great! The music wasn't really anything to amazing but it did it's job, however the engrish in the first opening will be stuck in your head for a while!

Overall, if you want to watch an awesome romance anime that's well written, has good characters, and a really cool amnesia plot point later on in the series, check out Golden Time! It's now number 2 on my favorite romance animes.

Here's the list in case you're curious.

1.) Clannad: After Story

2.) Golden Time

3.) Toradora

4.) Spice and Wolf

5.) Bakemonogatari

It's way too late for you to be making me go through the feels.

Now I gotta Youtube every damn sad Clannad scene...

Judging from the opening, this anime is clearly about never finding the love of your life, and being consumed by hatred and bitterness over it, right?

Noooo! They won't turn you into a ball of emotion if you haven't seen the series! That being said, the sunflower field scene is what I consider to be the best directed and acted scene in all of anime!

I can't do romance anime right now, too many feels. I'll try and pick it up soon.

I've been meaning to start watching Log Horizon, but I haven't managed to watch it yet.

With the exception of Clannad - yes, I know it's sacrilege, particularly for someone who loves KyoAni, but I've never managed to get into it - and Golden Time - I haven't gotten around to watching it yet - your list reads much the same as mine. I think I'll have to take the personal responsibility hit, and just go on a Golden Time binge.

(Still doubt it'll outdo Toradora for me, though. While my usual romance anime pet peeve - "It'd be so great to just watch you guys going out for a few episodes, so if you could admit your feelings and make with the dating BEFORE THE LAST COUPLE OF EPISODES that'd be just great, cheers." - was very much in evidence, it was essentially perfect otherwise. God, what I wouldn't give for a sequel set a few years hence.)

Same here, I heard that how much you like Log Horizon is proportional to how much you hated Sword Art Online, so it's in the running to be my favorite show of all time!

SAO has quite the cult hatred following. I don't know much if anything for the plot of it, though.

Well then you'll love Golden Time since they admit their feelings after 7 episodes! Also I don't really blame you for getting into Clannad, while I do think that the second season is the best show ever made, the first season is just a visual novel adaptation and nothing too special. That being said it's a prerequisite for After Story.

That's pretty much what I've always heard about Clannad. I could probably get through the first season if I tried - God knows, I've seen and enjoyed enough mediocre anime in my time - but my rather unfortunate knowledge of some of the impending tragedy - it's hard to avoid spoilers for a series that old - makes it difficult for me to muster the will. Anyway, I just paid a visit to the FFFansubs site; I see some Golden Time in my immediate future.

Just know that the characters aren't interesting, the main character is wish fulfilment incarnate, Asuna is the most stereotypical tsundere on the planet, the writing overall is just shit, and the second half is total shit that has a borderline incesuous relationship with the main character's cousin who, you guessed it, isn't interesting.

I will say that it's well animated and has good music. That being said, beautiful shit is still shit.

Oh the Mini's still doing well! I haven't really had any issues with it since the entire engine exploding thing happened! lol I've been doing good though! I'll be doing even better when my bike frame comes in tomorrow! I'm getting the frame from a Specialized Allez Expert (the frame at least is the one pictured)! I'm so excited to build it up this weekend!

I'm glad to hear that!

One of my old roommates took cycling really seriously, he rode a trek with a CF frame, but I don't know squat about bicycles though, to be honest. Very cool though, that's a good project; I rode my bicycle everywhere before I got my motorcycle license. Take some good pictures!

I didn't mind SAO, but I stopped watching at around episode 9. Log Horizon is fucking great, though. It's easily the best take on the 'people trapped in an MMO' concept I've seen, and just a really fun anime generally. I'm so glad we're getting a second season.

They made Clannad and S&W into animes? I'm so out of the loop haha. I played Clannad and S&W was a pretty popular light novel series when I was over there...never even heard of the others on your list. My two favorite romance series are Kimagure Orange Road and Maison Ikkoku.

Yeah Clannad and S&W got anime adaptations around the same time in 2008-ish. S&W got it's anime around the 5th book I think, I remember reading something about it in the author's afterwards when I was reading the novels.

But yeah both of them are really good! I consider After Story (it's a completely original series that takes place after Clannad's Nagisa route) to be the best anime of all time. Also Spice and Wolf is my favorite anime of all time.

Also i've been wanting to watch Maison Ikkoku but 90ish episodes is a lot of commitment!

I'd recommend KOR over MI. MI has a really obnoxious subplot (Ibuki subplot) that goes on for way too long and also has some annoying setting shots that were used for filler starting about 3/4s of the way through the series to pad time when the anime caught up to the manga. Worth it, but requires dedication.
