My Caprice's inspection ran out in March. I let it go because it needs a new gauge cluster(stupid 90's), and my 240d is up in April. I figured I'd wait to see how the 240d does and then get my cluster. Seems like a sound plan....
Last night driving home from Philly my check engine light pops in my GTI. Stop turn the ignition off and back on again hoping it was a fluke. Nope. Got it scanned and it's giving a P2015 code. From a quick peruse of a few VW forums it looks like it will need a new intake manifold. But at least that's under warranty.
Tomorrow is when I'm bringing the 240d for it's inspection. So, today I'm driving around doing errands, car is performing flawlessly as always. Get home and my door won't open.
Now I have one car which is illegal to drive at this point. One which I will only drive to the VW shop, and the third is about to fail inspection. And it's almost my birthday. Fuck you too universe.

Where do you live that a cluster causes you to fail inspection?

Pennsylvania requires working speedometer and odometer.

Ah, they don't work! For some reason I read it as they needed to be brought to code or something.
Regardless. I haven't been inspected for almost a decade! The one advantage of the midwest / Kansas. Inspections are a pain in the ass, especially when they can take your car of the road for a problem you had no clue was a "problem".

Here we only have emissions, not inspections. Huraah!

Yep, glad we don't have those here either! Again went through them, and never missed them after.

It`s dumb they continue it on. Most cars pass anyways. IN BC they moved to scrap emissions testing recently. They said they are scrapping it because particulate matter dropped 86%. Mission accomplished. Ontario should do the same.
