Here's my post.

I've had zero interest in the car so far, and I'm not sure why. The price is a little high, but the average for V6 Mustangs in my area seems to be $4000 but those cars all seem to have dirty titles or 160k+ miles. I also want the price to be higher than I'd let the car go for so we can haggle a bit. I'd be comfortable selling at $4400.

Any wisdom you guys can offer?

That is a fair price, at least by me in IL. I would have bought it if I didn't have the Silly Accord. If you don't get anything in the next two or three days, try making a new ad with almost no info (milage, price and engine/trans) and see what happens. This happened to.another Opponaut long ago: Well written ad, no interest; shitty ad, getting calls all over the place. Although some of the people that.called weren't exactly the savory type...

Make sure to include no lowballs!

I was helping a buddy get rid of an old Corolla for around $1,000. One person kept making offers between $50, and $250. It got extremely annoying after a while.

Haha, in my experience "no lowballs and no scammers" doesn't actually deter lowballers and scammers.

I'll sell this car to a meth dealer with kittens in a dungeon if he's got enough genuine American dollars.

That's a fine ad and is something I would reply to, but in my experience less is more.

I made a ad for my Focus including pretty much everything about it. Got maybe 2 emails. Reposted with just the mileage and options, I was flooded with questions and calls.

Don't mention that you're bored of it. That implies that the car got boring.

Also, photoshop in unicorns farting glitter rainbows. That always gets some pageviews.

i'll definitely address that first part, thanks.

as to the glitter: maybe. ask me again in 2 weeks and i'll be much more receptive to the idea

Hmm. Maybe a nice video with some explosions, then?

someone else suggested i get rid of those 3/6 spoke wheels first, which i could not agree more. i'm gonna have my cousin detail it, pop the dents, respray it, then delve into used wheel hell and finally decide after all this work maybe i should keep it.

then i'll turn it on and press the accelerator and nothing will happen and i'll remember why i'm doing this.

Seems like too much effort for the wheels. Rest sounds good, though.

yeah. they made 15" 5 spokes, if i get a set of those for less than 200 i'll jump. that way i can use the tires i've got and i'll probably see that money back.

And if you're in northern IL like me, that price is for a high mileage example with rust on the wheel wells and/or bad paint.

I thought that was the 2.5-3 thousand dollar ones.

By private sale? Most definitely.

At shady Buy-Here-Pay-Here dealerships with 60% APRs? Easily $4k. :D
