I'm stuck driving my grandmothers 328i with the twin turbo 4-cyl. A friend stopped by and offered to let me borrow his immaculate 944 Turbo but my mom was with me and said I wasn't allowed :/ What did you drive to prom?

Side story: my date is German. I really wanted to take our old 1945 army surplus International pick up truck. Something something WWII joke something.

She loved it. Told me a story that when she was younger, her brother would sit her on his lap and she would shift and he would work the clutch. I was smitten.

Took the Infiniti, so nothing too special. The girlfriend wouldn't let me take the Vette... Something about messing up her hair.

I didn't go... Was working full time and I didn't see the point... especially since the women I was dating at the time were about 25 and that was too old for a date to the prom.

A Prius, which was my car in high school. And I would have gone with my date, too, if she hadn't gone to rehab for cocaine use.

I should have gone to KROQ Weenie Roast (y Fiesta!) instead. Damnit.

This. '89 100 Quattro in dark blue, 5-speed, blue mouse-fur interior. In 1994 (junior) and 1995 (senior) it was still a new-ish and relatively swanky ride ;) My girlfriend at the time made her own dress and went a little nuts with the lowness of the cuts (front and back) no underwear was possible without showing... made the after-prom parking really, shall we say, easy. Glad she didn't revise the design to be more modest for senior. It was a totally different dress, different fabric, etc but she knew how to display the goods. It was great, since she always dressed tomboy and/or frumpy in school and when we showed up for junior all the jock's jaws practically hit the floor.

also, the BMW is nothing to complain about.

"stuck" driving a new BMW? No such thing as an immaculate 924/944/968 if you actually want to make it there.

How about a 10-yo minivan?

I drove my parents' 1982 Caprice. Bench seats FTW. Wore the tux that my dad wore in 1961. It fit perfectly (at the time). My prom was cheap. They held it in the gym. We stayed for about thirty minutes, went home and changed, then swapped the Caprice for our Rabbit and headed to the beach for the night. My date was my longtime girlfriend who had moved away after her mom died. She agreed to go with me, but called me a few days before the prom to tell me there was somebody else. We ended up spending the night talking about things we should have talked about two years earlier. After breakfast I dropped her off at home and never saw her again.
