Hey there! I kinda got late on the game, but I'm looking for a summer internship in either Finance or Accounting. I've submitted my resume to almost 100+ places and cold called around 150+, I live in the Ohio area, but willing to relocate anywhere. Any suggestions?

Try asking your local bank(s) too! Good luck.

Does your school have a place where companies post internships? I know my school has one and are loaded with options. Also, great to see another finance major around here.

That's where I applied for most of my positions. I think I might have to go into the offices for more help.

You think you were late for a summer internship? I started mine back in 2012 in AUGUST! lol

Tell your school to get their asses in gear and find you something

Have you considered going to small, local businesses and talking with the owner about the possibility of doing their books over the summer? It's usually something that people hate doing, and a lot of small businesses don't have the money to hire an accountant.

If you can't find anything this summer, commit to spending the next year networking. Network, network, network. That is and will always be the best way to get jobs.

Try asking friends, family members, and friends of family members and family members of friends if they know anybody in the industry. Anybody at all that can bring you closer inside any company that has either their HQ or local head office in your area with an accounting, finance, special projects, investor relations, corporate development group/team. You'd be surprised how much people are willing to help if you come across in genuine need of a hand/referral.

Also nice to see two other finance majors here on Oppo.

Yeah, those campus place are really help full for finding internships. Also try career fairs. I literally was pulled aside by a director at Allianz at one and ended up getting an internship for this summer there working with financial reporting. Don't be afraid to throw your name out there and possibly make a fool out of yourself, you never know what might come of it.

I forgot to mention that sending in just a resume will not yield the best results. Often on college campuses companies will have "networking events," Go to the them no matter what. It shows that you are interested in the company and your resume will stand out if they can put a face with it.

Nothing specific for finance, but a number of the intern positions may use the same skill.
