How abouts we start actually getting girls at a young age involved in cool stuff (e.g. models, legos, electrics) instead of forcing dolls and other asinine shit on em? (Sorry for mini-rant, but this "installed by enterprise policy" virus is pissing me off among other things, like excessive assholes.) Have an awesome song.

Have you never been around a little girl? They love dolls/dresses/makeup...it's not forced on them.

It isn't genetic, my friend — but blanket statements like those are what cause for that to be the societal norm in the first place.

Don't lose all hope! My sister who is not yet 10 asked me what my favorite car company is and I replied Toyota, she replied 'Well mine is Keonigsegg.' Of course she also enjoys playing with dolls and what not but I'm glad that she also branches out.

That's pretty awesome. You obviously won't find many girls who reject devices of maternity training. But hey, societal expectations are pretty shitty for any demographic. I also realize I look like a total looney tune here...

As a new Dad with a young daughter, as a motoring enthusiast and as someone who believes that the best way to protect a girl from boys is to teach her to think like one you can rest assured that my daughter will grow up sharing her Dad's passion for the culture of cars and that it will be a direct extension of both parents agreeing to discourage the development of socially associated gender roles.

There's a pretty strong physiological component...turns out hormones aren't a societal construct.

I have a son and a daughter. They both went with me to the Nutcracker ballet, and both will go with me next weekend to MotoGP at COTA. My son likes construction trucks and my daughter likes My Little Pony and neither much likes racing. Girls and boys are different and there isn't anything you can do about it.

Why do you think dolls are asinine? They're tools of imagination just like any other child's toy. I'm not a fan of pushing dolls on little girls, but neither do I think it's a somehow lesser toy. And I'll chirp in with another little girl, my cousin's, who went the traditional girly toy route while hr little brother took to construction equipment, and neither of her parents are traditional in the least. Of course the little girl does tonnes of 'non-girly' things as well.
