On Tuesday night, at long last, I finally got my bike delivered and assembled. But before I get to the center of this rant, a little background info is in order. Throughout high school, I never had a car to call my own, so my time, money and effort went into my bike, originally a 2010 Stolen (brand) bmx. I say originally, because over time, everything but the frame has been replaced with custom, shiny, and new parts. Needless to say, it has a huge sentimental value, and knowing I was going to school in NYC, I knew that I wanted it here with me.
So like I said, I got it a few days ago, and have been attached to it pretty much ever since. Today after class, a friend of mine said he was thinking about getting into bmx, so we took it down to a quiet student parking lot so he could get a feel for it, and I could see what tricks I could still do after being away from it for so long. The parking lot was pretty empty to begin with, and many people were still in class, so it was pretty dead.
But after a few minutes, the inevitable happened: a rent-a-cop security in his state of the art Ford Escape started creeping towards us. I'm pretty used to being kicked out of parking lots for biking even when you're not causing any sort of disturbance, it's nothing new, and it's just a part of bmx. We were talking in a corner of the lot with fences behind us, and he proceeded to block us off, and at what seemed to be the limit of his mental capacity, yelled "NO STUNT BIKES!" So I thought to myself "That was pretty rude, but whatever", and I stared at him because he was blocking us into the corner. Only he didn't move, but in turn stared back at us. Seconds passed before I finally said fuck it, and awkwardly tried to maneuver around his Ford. Walking back to my dorm, he stayed stationary in the same spot, just blankly staring back at us like he had never seen such a spectacle before.
I realize that bmx'ers don't have the best reputation, but I'm pretty sick of shit like this. There were no signs posted against biking, we weren't in anyone's way whatsoever, but apparently by doing so I'm a threat to everyone else's wellbeing.
TL:DR- Unbeknownst to me, I'm a drug dealer/scumbag/menace to society because I ride a little kid bike.

I rode BMX bikes and loved them. If you weren't hurting anything / anyone or doing anything inappropriate, they ought to leave you alone. Especially if it's a school parking lot! There's nothing inherently wrong with BMX bikes or BMXers.

Punk kids.
When I was about 10 or so, I was at a friends house in a gated community. We were riding bikes(me on his dad's old 10speed) and racing each other down this huge hill. Needless to say, security was at the bottom of the hill and chased us down. My friend dropped his bike and booked it into the woods. Security guard in his jeep asks me, "do you know how fast you were going?"
"No, I'm on a bike."
"Well the speed limit is 25 and you were going faster than that. Slow down."
He drove off, but I was ecstatic for going that fast.

A friend of mine actually got a speeding ticket on a bike once! I'd be more proud of that than anything!

I think that because I'm the only person with a bmx bike (literally the only) the security guard just assumed I was some shady character instead of an innocent kid having fun. This obviously isn't going to stop me, but hopefully they get over it in due time and just let me ride.

I think I may need to be cautious of that, a few days ago I biked to the store and at some points the traffic in a 35 wasn't going all that much faster then me. I plan on riding it to work and back once its warm in the mornings, but when I get off, on the same road there is a 20 mph school zone, so I think I may have to slow down for it, lol.
