My teacher gave us an assignment to go out and take "artsy" photos of things. Naturally, I went to my local car museum. I got some rather cool pics I'd love to share. Enjoy! (Lead pic from Google of the museum).

Thanks for viewing and please let me know what you think!

P.S. I'd love to share this on the photography sub-blog but I don't have access. So if anyone could share it there or help out I'd greatly appreciate it.

Those badges would look better if you straightened them out. You can do it with minimal hassle in basically any photo software.

I like the shots of that Sun contraption.

Good content, I definitely think you should practice your composition more though. The rule of thirds is a good start, but playing around with perspective would be good.

Thanks! I need to be playing around with these pictures on Photoshop later today so I will be messing around wit setting like that.

And the engine diagnostic tool was really really cool. He was selling it for around $500 I think. Supposely, it still worked

Thanks for the tips! I agree that these pics are a little too focused and zoomed in on one thing.

Any good tips for compostion?

I'm no pro, but typically I'll try and get a foreground, middle (focused here), and background, to give a good sense of depth. For example, with your logo photos (which I really like the content of) I would line up my shot to include more of the fender or trunk lid or wherever it's placed. Lots of people know how to center an image, but that's not what you'll desire for the most part if you're shooting as an art form.

I'm not qualified to comment, but to give you kind of an idea what I mean, here's an example of a trunk lid shot I took of my mr2.

Rule of thirds - divide image into three equal sections, vertical and horizontal, focus the subject of your work on one of those thirds.

Nothing wrong with using the center third, compose the surroundings to draw the eye into the center.

I'm no pro, just like taking pics. My biggest problem is focus, I use poor judgement when using soft focus, or I'm just a bit blind and rely too heavily on auto-focus. But that's my issue, don't make the same mistakes.

You can use the rule of thirds in many ways, not just on closeups, but you also can use it on distance shots so the viewer can see more of the surroundings.
