I can browse around Oppo all day, but as soon as I navigate on over to the front page, safari says, "bye bye, woof woof" and crashes.

have you tried different browsers? I use either atomic or puffin, depending on what i'm doing. Atomic is nice because it can spoof desktop browsers, and puffin does flash.

Front page as in Oppo homepage or Jalopnik? Which device are you on and what is your version of Safari? We haven't gotten any other reports of this issue.

Yes now Oppo and Jalopnik, it crashes Chrome mobile as well.

Could you confirm your version of iOS? It could be a device/OS specific combination that's causing the crash. Unfortunately, it's a bit difficult for me to get my hands on any iPod Touch for testing, however I can try to figure out a work around to simulate your environment.

I have also been having mobile safari crashing issues with all the kinja sites. Seems like it happens most frequently when scrolling through the comment sections.
