I got my "new" mirrors and door tweeters installed on the Outback. It's good to have a driver's side mirror that doesn't wobble at speed, and the extra size is very handy.

Extra size?

Yes.

Behold.

Old "Shrek ears" style mirror:

About 6" wide,

And just under 4" tall.

New mirrors:

Wider than my steel rule, let's say 6.5".

Height is about the same, just under 4" - the top of the ruler isn't lined up in this shot.

So if you have a BG Subaru wagon (USDM 98-99 Outback, 96-99 Legacy), find yourself a set of side mirrors from a 1995 Legacy L. They bolt right up, the electrical plug is the same, they're bigger, and best of all, they fold in.

The only downside to them is a slight increase in wind noise, which, given the amount of noise the car makes at speed anyway, is negligible in my case.

The little door tweeters mount in the place of the screw cover on the door. I cracked one of my covers getting them off a while back, so that was my excuse for swapping to the speakers. All the Outbacks and Legacies I've seen come with the wiring for this speaker already in the door, so this was similarly plug and play.

I can actually hear the difference. The stereo does a better job of overpowering wind noise at highway speed with the tweeters.
