It's gotta be Europe waking up. I wonder if they have the data to break down regions and times.

Noooooooooooo
Fuck. I'm starting to feel like a hipster with voting for the losing car on every poll...

It's weird though, because I don't think I've seen those kind of numbers show up on a story during the American overnight hours before. Also I'm going to say it's too early in the day to be Europe's doing. It's 8 AM there (7 AM in the UK), the W123 has earned about 1,500 votes in the past three hours. I can't see over a thousand Europeans casting votes on an "American" car blog between 5 and 8 AM. Especially when the 11 hours prior only netted about 9,000 votes in the peak voting hours of the website's home country.

Honestly, at this point I'm almost tempted to call shenanigans (not on the part of Jalopnik or it's staff, mind you). Someone somewhere stuffing the ballot box, so to speak. Especially since this is Benz's third straight overnight comeback of over 1,500 votes.

So in the past 30 minutes the Mustang earned another 17 votes and the Benz 344? At 2:20 Eastern U.S. time/8:20 Euro time the Benz is getting 12 votes a minute? I think I may need to go get my tinfoil hat, because something smells fishy here.

And in the time it took me to write that the Benz got another 47 votes...
Wow
Redd, the RX-7 that could

Some guy probably went out and bought every working 20 yr old pc he could find, loaded them all into his W123, took them home, and set about ensuring victory.

Well there's a bit of outside help, too:
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w123-e-…
http://mbworld.org/forums/e-class…
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/open…
I'm sure there are other forums doing this, but it stands to reason that the Mustang crowd is doing the same thing, so...
But I did see this as well...

That would suck. I would hope they could tell if it was rigged somehow. I know I spent about 10 minutes refreshing the page and voting for the w123 before I realized it only recognized the first vote.
