FINALLY, I get to use this for a good reason!

Here's what happened:

There's this girl I know who goes to my college. She walked past me yesterday morning in the atrium(our main area for doing stuff) as I was watching a video on aftermarket cat backs for the ST; she walked over asking what I was doing other than I was looking stuff up on YouTube for it. I told her I had received a new car but not what it was, though it was apparent with my keys on the table that it was. Then I told her it was an ST and that I was learning how to drive it, she somehow knew it was a stick and said she'd been driving a Fiesta manual for like two months and I was like "I like where this is going...". So I asked her if she liked cars; her response being that while she didn't love them, she does have an appreciation for them and was interested to learn more about cars if given the opportunity I'm like "THIS IS PERFECT!" So not only did I invited her to come to our Friday meets on Woodward, but to even drive my car! AND SHE ACCEPTED!

And she gave me her number! Never before has this happened to me! I'm interested and excited to see where this goes! :)

In all seriousness tho, I met a gorgeous girl in my cisco networking class who was really into cars and especially liked old school 60's Pontiacs (her dad has 2 69 le manses) and worked for a porsche dealer delivering cars to clients. In the first 5 minutes of hanging out she said "so the exhaust on your car sounds pretty crazy, what'd you do to it?"

Sadly I found out some months later that her heart belongs to another (who drives a VW GTI. That wasn't just a knife in the chest, that was a serrated machete) and I haven't talked to her since finals in December which was my last semester.

Play this right and you'll be of much happy. Every car guy wants a girl who likes cars as much as he does.

I think you've got nothing to worry about, sounds like you know the girl that you're taking out. If you two have a great time together, definitely set up a more formal date to make your intentions clear, the last thing you want is to make her think you're leading her on. Have fun!

Its for my 85 745i, I had to replace the A pack clutches which burnt out and I took the valve body assembly out to add a helper spring to the shift solenoid. What nobody told me, and I had no idea because this is the first time I've EVER done ANY sort of trans work in my life, is that the shift arm on the trans case has to fit into a slot on the manual valve arm. I didn't do that, and when I tried shifting the trans it put the manual valve lever where it wasn't supposed to be. I had no neutral and no reverse, they both became forward gears. So during all this "why the fuck isn't this going into all its gears" testing on jack stands, I apparently managed to toast at least the A pack clutch set again. The A pack is responsible for all forward motion no matter what gear it is.

So yeah, friday I gotta tear it all out and see what I messed up again. The only upside is since I already did this job once, I should be able to tear it out in half the time. I just gotta organize the bolts better so I have less "oh shit, where does this go!?!!!?!?" moments.

This is what I took out last time, I expect to find something close to it again. This is a clutch pack, its supposed to have material on the surface, not be bare steel.
