This is why I love craigslist.
Collector's item! I inherited this beauty from my grandmother after she died from carbon monoxide poisoning (a small tune up fixed the problem). She owned it from new and put hardly any miles on it. Since then, I have out approximately 300k miles on her, commuting back and forth to Alaska. The car has never let me down since I can always find an Autozone or Pep Boys before I hit Canada - after that its a bit dicey (I don't speak Canadian).
It's a very restorable car - the rust is mainly limited to the floorboards where I usually put the salmon to deliver to the canning factory. The engine still runs, but has a death knock coming from somewhere. It isn't too annoying if you turn the AM radio up to full volume- sorry, the 8 track no longer works. The manual trans is a bit crunchy. I'm sure it will need a rebuild too. It pops out of gear, but I have a bungie cord the holds the gearshift in while on the highway - I'll throw it in for free. The interior could use some work. Apparently a bear smelled the salmon and tore through the seats looking for tasty morsels.
I'm not sure if grandma ever took the car in for the gas tank recall - probably not since she hated the dealership. That is probably a rare option now to have the exploding gas tank, so that is another plus on the collectibility. That and the baby barf green color.
I'm only selling to get something more reliable. Really don't think I can limp it up to Anchorage again.
This car always gets lots of attention where ever I go. Folks give me the "thumbs up" on the road. At least I think that's the sign they are making as they swerve around me.
She's a beauty and will probably fetch a lot of money once restored. No lowballers or tire kickers.
