Vacillating on a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is so frustrating. Should I, shouldn't I? It seems like a nice enough guitar. Worth the $225 price? Dunno. And I love Ibanez necks.

Also, why do trucks tailgate cars even on a toll freeway with a speed limit of 70 and I'm trying to take a left-lane sharp left exit at somewhere close to 50-60 and the rest of the entire freeway is bloody empty!

The cheaper end Ibanez have pretty shit Floyds and pickups.

I use to burn through those, fixing them and selling them.

But you can't do it anymore, even the fucking kid with a Squire can do what i did.

Though if you're going to drown it in solid state distortion, buy it.

Not worth it. I, too love Ibanez necks. But their low end stuff simply isn't worth it and better bargains can be had.

I've learned from friends with an ass ton of shit guitars... Save the money and buy one nice guitar that will handle most things until you have cash for another very nice one to contrast the one you got.

I will add, I have a friend who used to have a lot of mediocre guitars and now he regrets getting them all and has been trading in 2-4 guitars for single, nicer ones.

TL:DR:

Cheap guitars just simply aren't worth the time or money, even if you aren't buying a bunch of them.

I don't have any at present. I'm just looking for something to keep me occupied until I can swing something much more expensive. Even then?

Hmm... I'd almost buy something even cheaper at that point. The RG is also a fairly one-sound guitar in my experience. It's all about metal and distortion.

That's fun and all, but it just gets plain old. Until you hit the $800+ ibanez guitars, a lot of them are set up in that way.

That isn't to say you should spend that much, but I'd look at other brands. If you're going to buy a low end guitar for now, I'd almost just grab any straight-necked electric that doesn't buzz for less than that ibanez. Not some target guitar, but some criagslist / flea market guitar.

Do you have an amp?

Well I'm definitely never going to buy an $800 guitar. That kinda money will more likely go into getting a new lens. But I see your point. I saw this one for about $300 at my local guitar centre sometime back. If I get something decent for that amount, I might not even buy anything more expensive for a while. And yeah I have an orange micro.

Your area has plenty of Ibanez/ESP/Epiphone SG / Harmony Tele for sale in the like $110 range. That's over $100 saved for the next guitar.

Some may think this is bad advice, but IDK. Buying a low but not bottom range ibanez just isn't' rewarding in my opinion. It probably won't break on you, most of those guitars won't. But it isn't worth that much to me (though MSRP etc may show it is worth that in the market).

Also, if you play mostly metal/heavy rock, a strat is still a great guitar for that music despite what some may think. Yngwie malmsteen plays a strat. What matters is a well balanced guitar that sounds great clean, and from there pedals / amps and other tweaks will give you the rest.

Either way, I wouldn't hang on to a low end electric all that long, it gets frustrating and old.

I did this with amps, had a complete POS that was worth very little for quite some time until I could afford a beautiful used 80's Laney half stack for $400. Best decision I've made.

There are plenty of gems in the guitar market where people for whatever stupid reason don't like a certain guitar or amp, despite it performing and sounding better than your JCM 800's or Les Paul Studios.

Yeah, I didn't mean you should eventually buy that expensive, just was my personal opinion on Ibanez.

That guitar isn't bad, I've played those. Though I'd still recommend looking into used but good condition guitars where you can get way more for your money.

If you're stuck on new, that isn't really a bad guitar at all.

Yeah. That is why I'm still looking. I'm in Austin, so unless something really catches my eye, I'm not gonna drive down to SA. Thanks for the help :)

NO problem at all. A thing you could look out for are the 80's/90's japanese made S prestige models that would likely be fairly priced. Wonderful guitars, too.
