I'm still a while off getting a new car. But, I've already narrowed it down to a Gti, base Wrx, or Focus St. Wrx would be used and the Focus and the Gti new.
What's your plan for a next car?

But I'd love a BRZ, STi Hatch, or Legacy GT Wagon.

They are pretty cheap for a mid-engine V12 Italian beast. Some go for around 100k, which is pretty cheap, when you consider Enzos and Paganis are its only counterparts and those are pretty damn expensive used.

Maybe a Panther car
Maybe an Outback
Maybe an Impreza

Maybe a Fox Body Mustang
Maybe an 85 Camaro

The camaro and fox body are the least likely to happen but they're my favorite muscle cars for how different they were from the tradional mustang and camaro. I had a Lancer GTS and actually liked it but wanted A LITTLE more power and AWD so an 09 and newer Lancer AWC seems like a smart choice.

I am sure a manual swap is pretty easy. It has a manual gearbox already, but it isn't as simple as sticking a stick in it, but it has all the mechanisms there! Plus RWD are free, in both!

If you are considering the GTI and the ST, consider the Si too. Even without that extra 50hp it keeps up, plenty of mods and the best resale value if you ever decided to sell.
Me, considering 2015+ Mustang GT, Camaro SS, Challenger, Genesis Coupe 3.8R, STi, or maybe something older and awesome. An C6 Z01, Mid 90's Viper, Acura NSX...
Car shopping for possibly the first car I really wanted more than needed sucks...

RWD swaps* are free. But yes, if you can get a Lambo, you can get some other things as well. Although, I wonder if you can service it yourself. Generally the only hard things are clutch changes at 30k. The other stuff is like oil changes and checking timing belts.

Yup that's me.
The problem with volvo and manuals now is they want to compete with BMW/AUDI/MB/LEXUS etc and so the cars are pricey and the people looking to buy aren't interested in manual trannies so much. If they made something more entry level (mid 20k) that was a wagon and had a manual, enthusiasts would flock to it.
