True story... I have a great uncle who used to operate a smuggling and arms running business for the local arm of the mafia in the italian communities in Southern Brazil several decades ago, the awesomely named, then nicknamed One-Eyed Hannibal (Aníbal caolho), due to him losing an eye in a stand against the republican army in one of the many, many attempts to seccede Rio Grande do Sul from the rest of Brazil.
