Okay, I have a question that really doesn't relate to cars at all, but I'm hoping somone can help me out.
In a video from the Nuclear Security Summit which is taking place this week in The Hague, there's a large, floating 3D hologram in the middle of the room.
My question is this: Is that actually possible? My understanding was that something like that would have to be added using CGI in post; holograms have to be projected 'onto'/'into' something, and can't float in the air, the way they show it in the movies.
I've done research, and haven't been able to find any evidence of such technology existing. I've also tried to look up the facility this Summit is taking place in, and couldn't find any information about a massive cutting-edge piece of technology like that installed there.
Pardon the crazy conspiracy source for the video. I'm just baffled by that animation.

That just looks like it's hanging from the ceiling. There is 'mist projection' though which is pretty cool.
Edit, found a mist projection demo:

They can project video on glass to make it seem like a hologram, but that's about it.

didn't they hologram tupac at an Eminem show? I understand how silly of a connection that is, but I remember reading a touch about the tech they used to do it.

That Illuminati bullshit was annoying. Thank God for the mute button.

Now that I re-watched it, I think you're absolutely right; I guess the best explanation is also the simplest. That mist projection is pretty cool though.
