Got him to admit he was wrong on one front.

Jesus, if the (wo?)man thinks a 458 is ordinary, I wonder what's in his garage.

It's not exactly a rare car though. It's Ferrari's entry level sports car and if you know where to look you can find them on the road fairly easily.

Yeah, I suppose it's pretty common. It's a personal thing to think they're a little special. I'm a not a big fan of the 458 (as I've said on Oppo before), but whenever I see a Ferrari there's this feeling of excitement/awe I can't shake. The F40, especially.

May I kindly suggest that debating the semantics of what makes a hypercar and what makes a supercar is pointless beyond reason? I've said it before; the only people who care about these designations are people who will never own one anyway - the armchair enthusiast on a budget, living in the real world.
Demographics like Sport-Utility, Cross-Over and Wagon are far more applicable in the world most of us live in yet I come across this argument at least once a week on Jalop (and sometimes Oppo). It's a pointless distinction between "That's too expensive for me to afford ever" and "That's way too expensive for me to afford ever."

Ug, "Hypercar" is such a silly distinction over a supercar. Why bother? Viper to 918, P1 or whatever else... All supercars.

But there is a difference! A hypercar is something that's considered so rare, expensive, and fast, it's too good for even the supercar name. I feel there's a designation between the two so I used that in my argument.

Plus, you make it sound like, most of us can't afford them, we should ignore their existence?
