Excuse my ignorance, but what model is that? The hood looks slightly like a lightweight series one but i'm not sure...

Pedals through the floor indicate Series I definitively (first clue), which is kind of funny as I found it in a GIS for "Series II dashboard". The normal clincher (the side roll in the door post/absence thereof) is not available. It's definitely a late-generation Series I (either a 107 or 86), as the earlier 80s have a drastically different firewall, even different dash vent latches.
Nothing special about the hood that I can see, other than the fact that it's got windshield supports on it. That likely excludes a 107, with the fact that the windshield is folded down, so we can say very late production (particularly since it has indicators) 86" SWB Series I, probably ~'56-'57. Possibly ex-MOD.

Fair enough, i was thinking the fenders were slightly lower. Great car though, My mechanic daily drives either that, a v6 saab 96 or a rally modified beetle, and i have always been a bit envious.

I didn't get the years perfect - I forgot that for no sane reason, the last SWB ones for Series I were actually 88s like the Series II. So possibly up to '56 86 or up to '58 88 -due to being very "modern" the latter might be more likely. Or, it could conceivably be a 107 *pickup* with the top off, but who knows.
I'm much less sharp on Series Is than IIs/IIas, as the changes are more drastic (but more arbitrary), and we in the US got almost none of them. Awash in II/IIas, though, if you know where to look - I've got one, and between my brothers, dad, and a cousin, we've got another five. Going to get two chassis galvanized this week, actually - both our IIs, an 88 and a 109 wagon. They were the worst off of the bunch not counting my cousin's, for which he bought a new frame and is almost done. The 109 pickup is in need of merely body work, mine is a complete rebuilt 88, and we've got another 88 in need of body work and a paint job.
Hopefully we'll be getting the IIs back together mostly this year.

Good to hear that your keeping them alive: too many n england just become tools for farmers and fall into disrepair. Always a shame. I did want a series IIB for a while just because i liked the cab over design but decided as a first car and daily driver it may be less than practical. You trying to keep them original or light modification?

Mostly original- none of that lamp guard/roof rack/bumper overrider mania you often see. My cousin's is slated for jerrycan mounts on the front bumper and we've built him a winch mount, but it's for a 70's Warn winch, so nothing too off-putting.
Factory options, OTOH - we've got a couple with PTOs and a pair of capstan winches...
My dad almost bought a IIb at auction a good 15 years ago - there's supposed to be only maybe a dozen solid IIbs in the states, but this one was extremely clapped out and missing part of a drivetrain. Winning bid was only like $800 - my dad and one other gent were the only ones with interest, and my dad was limited to cash on hand.
