Today we have two very similar Fairlane's. Both are similarly priced and are only one year apart for each other, but at the same time they are very different cars. First up is a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! priced at $3,299. A solid all around car that needs all the mechanical's to be set up. Not a bad choice.

The second option is a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! priced at $3,000. This one has much less information on it, though it does look to be a complete car. There are some rust issues near the back but other than that it seems to be a solid car.

So, which would you buy?

It has to be the coupe, better lines than a wagon!

A hard one. The Sport Coupe has potential for performance the wagon doesn't, but unless one goes Full Thunderbolt Retard, it's not really a performance platform regardless. The wagon has DD potential just from space, and though it would take a heftier mileage hit, if you're driving a Fairlane it's not about mileage anyway...

Personally I'd pick the 64. It depends on the engine trans combo tho.

I like that the wagon has the 260, but a 289 was available in those sports coupes.

Dearborn heights? If you go look I'm coming with you. I'll show up in the Montego if need be, to show the guy we know our old fords.

It will still be a few years before I find myself in the market for a car like this. But until then I will gawk and dream.

That's what I thought when I found the Montego for $2500 bucks....a week later it was in my garage.

Let me know when you go looking! I just like an excuse to show up in the Montego lol

It depends on the motor in the Coupe. It could be the 289 if it's a "K code".

And that has some serious performance potential.

Or say screw it and through in a 351 or something if you really want some oomph in it.
