Was not expecting him to stand up after that, let alone before even coming to a halt.

I didn't realize a helmet could cause sparks until I saw Lorenzo's low side today.

Also +1 for walking away like C-3PO.

MotoGP drivers and World Cup Downhill skiers have the scariest crashes of anybody without a metal cage around them.

Many helmets have carbon fiber in/on them don't they?

Most likely the metal fasteners on the side for securing the visor, looks like he smacked the ground on that (very painful, mind you) location of the helmet.

Holy shit... Imagine that without a helmet. I doubt he'd be walking away like C3 after it. Also, C3PO is a good nickname for MotoGP Bikers, we should call them that haha...

+2 to going off at ground level instead of a high side.

I knew they would. They use it a lot in F1 too because of lateral acceleration and the forces it can put on the neck.

And the tumble when he reaches the gravel is why we see FIA grade-1 circuits with acres of paved runoff.

These teams sometimes have a new helmet every race. This isn't a money issue.
