He felt bad for making me edit the flyer design so many times so he gave me this random box of 8-tracks (probably more like: these were my dad's and I don't want them). Inside the box were some awesome albums like REO Speedwagon "You Can Tune a Piano but You Can't Tune a Fish," as well as albums by Eric Clapton, Black Sabbath, Fleetwood Mac, and Aerosmith. Now I just have to make sure they work and repair the ones that don't. I hate working on these things.

8 tracks, when they were new they didn't work.

I'm more interested in that glorious old tuner back there! Dem VU meters!

It's a Pioneer SX-650 from the late 70s. When the balance pot isn't acting up it sounds glorious.

A friend owned a similar one, getting it probably about 1978. So it's likely the same model. I love the analog tuning, and that big ol' tuning knob. So smooth. Digital readouts are boring and too exact. I listened to FM 99 , not FM 98.7. I also miss wood cases with silver fronts. Even if it was wood grain sticker on metal, it still looked like a piece of furniture and not an appliance. And that beautiful warm glow from the dial, not harsh LEDs. Sigh. I'm jealous.
