and we have a winner....oh my...Tom ever had a client as intelligent as this?

(This was before hybrid cars or electric cars were mainstream. A man called about his Lexus that just stopped working after a few days, so we had it towed back to the dealership.)

Customer: "I don't know what happened; the car just stopped while I was driving, and almost caused an accident because of you people!"

Me: "OK, let's take a look."

(I couldn't find any obvious issue, and all the free mechanics were giving the car a full once-over, trying to figure out the problem.)

Customer: "I spent tens of thousands on this car! How the he** can you sell anything that would crap out in 2 days?!"

(Just then I noticed the gas gauge was on 'Empty'. I put a little gas in the engine and started it up.)

Customer: "What?! For that amount of money, with the technologies these days, you still need to use gas?!"

I don't really have a horror story, but I totally get it. I actually enjoy browsing through different cars and talking shop, but both dealerships I bought cars from sort of dropped the ball after the sale. Mostly through lack of follow up and minimal communication. I get it, they're busy, but when emails go unanswered even though I got replies just minutes after sending them pre-sale, something's not right.

I can spend untold hours on that website. It's an absolute treasure trove for the worst (and sometimes the best) that humanity has to offer.

Shared this with a friend. This was his response.

HAHAHA.

That actually happened to me once. My gas gauge was off and I didn't know it (still read close to ¼ tank). Spent $150 to find out I had an empty tank.

As someone who previously worked in retail this is incredible.
