Its like Pirelli-gate except that instead of people being upset over the lack of longevity and artificiality of the racing people complained because they didn't like the color choice of the Pirelli script written on the tires. The future of racing is quiet; while you can blame the rules (for engines and dong noses alike), even LMP1s are quieter than most commuter vehicles and that doesn't make that class any less interesting or the racing any less enjoyable.

If you disagree (and you probably do since this is exceptionally subjective) please let me know not why you disagree with me but what the top tier of racing would look like under your control. I actually would rather hear your unfettered view (engines, body styles, etc.) than to have an argument over something stupid like turbo muffling.

Full disclosure, I only watch F1 when Martini is sponsoring something.

Secondary disclosure, I don't actually remember why I thought this was important enough to compose a post about but I'm pot-committed now. If you want to just put funny gifs in the replies, I'm down.

I wrote this earlier:

I'm a fan of motorsports and race craft so to me, the engine note isn't that big of a deal. My wife, on the other hand, couldn't care less about racing but loves F1 (too a lesser extent MotoGP and Le Mans).

Why? The spectacle of the thing. Yachts in the harbor, tracks around amusement parks, supermodel quality flag girls, cars that look and sound like nothing else, cool sponsors, flamboyant display of wealth, and drama both within the team and with the governing body. The actual racing is a secondary thing for her. When you make the sound less unique and less loud it seriously affects her enjoyment of it.

When I was watching FP1 she walked in from the other room totally confused because she recognized the commentators voices but thought that the cars sounded like leaf blowers. Throughout the entirety of qualifying and the race she continuously commented about how much she hated the terrible sound and the dong noses. She did however take great enjoyment in Hamilton and Vettel's cars failing since she hates those two with an unquenchable passion.

So yeah, I think they've alienated a good portion of the more casual fans with the change. I understand how the organizers feel like they're not getting their moneys worth.

honestly to answer your question i think F1 was created to be the Pinnacle of motorsports.

That being said i think it lost its way somewhere along the way i understand LMP1 cars are quiet now but there a different animal there endurance machines an F1 car is a sprinter

therefore i propose turbine engines for F1 cars and stop messing with aero regs just put a price cap on it or heck dont i dont care

a turbine engine would fufil all requirments in my mind there simple cheap insanly powerful and super loud plus there very efficent

look at boat racing the highest form of boat racing is turbine powered

This brings the question back down to what is the purpose of racing I think...which is a much bigger conundrum for me philosophically than just engine note. At the end of the day, racing exists because it pleases fans and it benefits manufacturers (or teams who sell their ad space and engineering talents). When it becomes more of one than the other you will either lose fans or you will lose team participation...
