This is why we can't have nice things.

I prefer to think of it as preserving the "brand new" rear seats that I will never use :).

All of the trim and comfortable stuff still exists around the driver, I just removed all the shit behind the driver it didn't need. It's actually quite easy to pt back in as well.

It looks like it just went through a Top Gear "we have to modify it for _____" montage and it was Jeremy Clarkson that had your car and he just started throwing bits of out out LOL.

How hard was that to take out? I kind of wonder if maybe they made it slightly easier to remove that stuff/put it back in for people who do AutoX/want to save weight.

To get it to this state I had to remove a staggering five bolts :)

Actually, it was amazingly easy to remove all this and I only had to remove 5 bolts. It's almost like toyota planned for people to be able to strip the car and track it on weekends and revert it back to DD duty on weekdays. As for the inner bumpers...

Kinja'd!!!

already lightened that up a bit.

Nice work. I believe the preproduction rumors were that they knew people would be doing cages etc., so they were trying to make it relatively easy for people to mod. Are you going to try any underdash work? What is the weight now? Cornerweights?

I'm loosing the ac, popup headlights, Hvac, airbags, and changing the fan setup on my c5z to move my weight distribution further backwards and toward the passenger side. It will still have the dash, door panels, and front carpet intact....and leaving one speaker for the radio :)

Right now she should be sitting right about 2610 with a full tank (so about 2540 in "last run of the day" spec ), and I have not recorded corner weights yet.

For me, I still have about 70 lbs left on the table via front brakes and seats (But that stuff is a bit out of my budget for the time being), and I can't really bring myself to remove the ac yet (even though toyota makes a nice delete kit). Unfortunately though it is far easier and cheaper on these cars to lighten the rear than the front.

As a previous 73 240z/72 celica/ 88 fiero gt owner, that weight is like the good ole days :). It may run faster autocross with the tank fueled up if you get a chance to test. I understand about the ac. I only pulled mine because my water temps were going up in the grid on hot days when I left the ac on.
