I looked at one of those per/15 min hotels but it looked a bit crappy. The hourly ones usually come with mirrors, although management never seems to be smart enough to put them anywhere else but on the ceiling...

That's about an hour north of me. Mentor should be about thirty minutes from there, they have a selection of places to stay there.

I'm about an hour or so away from there...I'd be shocked if you couldn't find someplace to stay in Ashtabula, like the Center Rd. exit off of I-90. Further east on 90 will get progressively more expensive.
