Actually I work right next to a place that does continuing education classes for law enforcement . This is what I found when I went to park in my everyday spot this morning. (That's my Miata under the cover on the right.)

If it's still there when you leave, squeeze against the car as you are walking to the door of yours. Bonus points if you have a backpack or bag with paint scratching buckles or latches...
I don't condone damaging cars due to bad parking. But if they park so close that you can't help it... Their loss.
