Kinja'd!!!

So I started my 3-yr-old off on NFS Hot Pursuit a few months ago, which has been great for the "free drive" mode so he can just have fun driving around. My other driving games are all about competition, and he's not old enough for that yet. So I'm looking to Oppo for some suggestions for other games he could play on our PS3.

Maybe an off-road game where he can just bound around and bump into things? Another road game where he can just cruise? They don't have to be "good" games, just meet the basic criteria of letting a 3-year-old have fun driving.

Driver San Fransisco for sure, basically entirely free mode. Not sure if they ever added wheel support to the PS3 version, though.

I have a game called 4x4 Evolution. It's a game about driving 4x4s offroad. It's an original xbox game that IS backwards compatible on 360. There are cheat codes for unlimited money so you can build an amazing huge truck. There's a race mode, mission mode (basically drive around the map looking for stuff) and a free roam mode.

I don't really play it anymore and wouldn't mind giving it to someone who would find some enjoyment with it, so if you're interested lemme know.

EDIT: In my excitement, I missed the PS3 part. Dangit, my bad.

F1 Race Stars is a Mario Kart type game with F1 drivers and teams as the characters... It's not a great game, but it's forgiving and fun.

Driver San Fransisco? Tdu 2?
If you had a Ps2, I've got some off road related games.

Yea I got excited and missed the PS3 part. I feel like a real jamook. There must be something similar on PS3 though.

I think I played this game and had been trying to remember what it was called! There was a PS2 version, but I'll have to check if my PS3 is old enough to play PS2 games (I think it might be). Hell, if it works, I'll play that game too! Thanks!

I'll check it out, but an initial search has not been promising. Thanks for the suggestion!

Test Drive Unlimited 2 would be great. You can drive pretty much anywhere.

I had that game on dream cast. That rav4 I had was great, but pitch black races sucked.

I wouldn't subject anyone to that horrible game. I was literally depressed during the few hours I played it; it was the first and only game I've returned early. It was just fucking horrible.

I'm glad Forza Horizon delivered on the promises TDU set.

I got you covered, yo. I know there's Motorstorm on PS3, but like you said, competitive...

May I suggest FUEL? It's not very good, but it's huge, like, huge and totally free to roam, perfect for anyone with the mindset of a three-year old. I played it for a bit; if it was polished, it'd be worthwhile. It has day and night cycles and weather; I had fun just driving from area to area. It has lots of ambition, just not the budget, so it's obviously not polished. With his imagination, this game will blow his mind; he's going to have hardcore nostalgia when he's 15.

There's also Midnight Club: LA; it's like GTA, minus all the crime, just city driving, short stretches of interstate, and the occasional sweet jump. Another fun game is Pure, it's a simple ATV game; it's competitive races, but man, it is just simple good fun. Pure may be too advanced for him though, but I'd still check it out. Also, Burnout: Paradise may be really good for him too, but I was never a big fan; I thought the physics were too simple and I always thought NFS: Hot Pursuit was a better, newer alternative.

I must mention Test Drive: Unlimited and its sequel. Don't get that. If you love your child, don't get that.

I play a lot of videogames.

The Burnout series is pretty fun. Paradise City is a giant driving sandbox. And the cars explode which is kind of fantastic when you're 3.

They did and I got it. Now my son is singing G&R.

Also picked up Test Drive Unlimited, Fuel (sadly doesn't work with the steering wheel, but it was $5), and Midnight Club LA.
