Yes, the hood style is a good one. The air cleaner-cutout, not so much.

It's a great Styled hood. It would be hard to patch that hole up though.

Sacrilege! I will say it's hard as hell to find a drop base to fit under those hoods, but that is NOT the correct solution haha.

It's doable. Any body man worth a paycheck would probably be able to fill and block that to an acceptable level.

Yeah, the cut job looks rough. I'd be worried about the metal being extruded. But you could always cut further out.
I'd probably be able to do it to a somewhat acceptable level, but I'm no pro.

If it's design is anything like the factory hood on my 1969 Firebird, there's no support structure there. Just sheet metal, so there wouldn't be much worry about patching in some new stuff.

Nice car man! I'd imagine that somebody with expirience could easily pull it off.

Especially a rare Formula hood. Cut up the T/A hoods all you want. Dime a dozen.
Still have a sad about this.

My car won't even HAVE an air cleaner when it's done. I mean, not in the traditional 70's sense.

Exactly. I was working with a supplier for a while to use mine as a buck for carbon fiber repops, but they decided novas took priority.
NOVAS.

Pfft. I don't know why the whole Year One Bandit thing didn't kick off a horde of 2nd gen Firebird enthusiasts running around in resto-modded 'Birds. I mean, the collector car market is coming up on low mile or perfectly restored cars, but the rest of them are just sitting out there, cheap as heck, and no one is doing anything with them.
Well, except you and I and that Bandit fellow (though he's going back to stock-ish)

It's just a Pontiac thing in general, I think. Most poncho guys seem to be super into originality. I submitted my car to HPP, they wouldn't touch it. Said there just wasn't a readership for heavily modded pontiacs yet. I think it's coming, but I think it's still a way off.
