Well, I got to check out the only McLaren P1 in North America tonight. Second best day of my life, first was of course when I got my first car, my GTI, 3 weeks ago haha. 2014 has been nice so far! The P1 is this man's new car; he also has quite a collection of classics, including a Porsche 917! This event was held in his underground shop and garage.

Where was this at? I've heard stories of a guy with a massive collection in an underground garage

She lied.
This car was at Miller Motorcars on display a few weeks ago.
BUT DAT 917 IS ENOUGH TO MAKE UP FOR IT

Miller Motorcars is where it's from! I don't know why there were Long Island decals on the windshield but this is from Greenwich CT.

And yes, that 917 was heavenly. I saw the key with the 6 holes drilled in it!

It's all okay haha. Amazing car, once you manage to slip into it. Seats feel amazing!

I have not seen the P1 in person. My buddy has and he said it actually looks way better in the flesh than it does in pics and videos.
He said that you can't get a full sense for how exotic it is unless you see it on person.

Also, they let you sit in it!?

There's a picture in that album of the key in there haha! It put a smile on my face because I remember looking at the "10 Coolest Car Keys" article on Jalopnik haha. For extra luck, the layered balsa shifter looked amazing too!

I agree with him. It looks amazing in person, the interior feels amazing. You don't feel like you are in a car honestly. It was a different experience.

Yes! I have a some shots of the interior in there. It's tough to get into though. Awkwardness of it haha

My honor! I feel good contributing here haha. And yes, it was luck seeing this car up close, especially when it was quiet. I actually had some time with the car.

The interior does seem like it would be totally amazing in person. And the rear end is just crazy looking. I want to see it in motion.
What's funny is that the P1 is the new hypercar that is most similar to the Ferrari F40, not the LaFerrari. Everyone loves the F40 yet Ferrari stuck with a N/A V12 for its hypercar and McLaren went with the TT V8.
I am all about N/A V8s, V10s and V12s. But a smaller TT V8 just *seems* so right for a hybrid hypercar that's all about new technology.

I'm a big fan of Jalopnik/Oppositelock. I share the same passion as everyone else on here, and that's the magic of it. I plan on doing more car reviews and such soon. Always thinking of ways to contribute. Have you seen my review on my GTI?

A buddy of mine in Houston emailed me that he took a ride in a P1 a few days ago. If this is the only one in the US, how many miles were on it?

This is something I have to remind myself of from time to time. Last weekend I was at a cars & coffee with a Maserati MC12, a Porsche Carrera GT, an SLS Black, a 288 GTO... It's ridiculous! And it's great that there are owners (and dealers) who put their cars out their for us to drool over. Hopefully a P1 will show up in my life someday!

Certainly. Well I never expect that wealth, but hopefully one day I'll get me my corvette.
And a rapide, plus a raptor. Maybe an Atom too. And the... oh man. I need to stop.

Same. For now I'm in love with my GTI haha. Not a day that goes by that at some point during a drive, I just randomly smile. Honestly a really fun car to drive.

As a current rep, it is my opinion that reps don't know fuck all at all times.
Miller had the car a while ago. And even that wasn't first in the states.

Honestly, as Jeremy Clarkson had said, it's more than a car. It's almost like a living entity. I genuinely love my car.

Dat diffuser
So amazing. I felt special standing near it. It was in the dealer on one of those car show spin wheels. When we got there (a 45 minute drive, well worth it), there was noone there. By the time we left there was probably 10 people. One guy had a nice camera and a tripod... and here I am, standing here in my young age (to young to drive) with my iPotato 4 point and shoot. I guess still better than nothing. I took like 135 pictures. Lol

At that event I had taken 274 photos... I must say, in person, it's amazing. Getting in it, I was shaking. It's very difficult to get into, you have to climb in. The issue is that you are entering something that costs 1.15 Million Dollars. I did NOT want to drag my shoes across that carbon fibre. Once I was in, it was amazing. Completely surreal. Very dark though, all the carbon fibre in there. Was incredible.

I was not allowed to get in. I didn't ask and again I'm very young, so they definitely would have said "HECK NO!". It's definitely amazing and I felt honored standing near it.

Definitely understand. I asked to get in, it's a good thing I knew them though. Just walking around it was amazing enough, the interior was very dark.

Yeah, the interior was weird. It was clearly not a priority, because it's just dark, carbon fiber and black seats, but then you look again and see that huge screen in the middle and everything.
