Kinja'd!!!

So my little sister texted me asking if there are any cars today that use never before seen technology, I presume for some sort of homework.

I wad thinking of going the easy route with full LED headlights or maybe the current crop of hybrid hypercars, but I'm sure you guys can give me some better ideas than that.

Have an F430 for your time.

I'd probably bring up regenerative braking or KERS systems, depending on if they only mean commercial cars or not.

It's not exactly a new technology, but it's use of an existing technology in a new way .

'never before seen technology' - seen by whom? there's nothing new under the sun.

closest i can think of is the m.t.kesche car ideas, but they're not cars today. the jaag turbine-generated hybrid was cool, but thats nuclear powerplant stuff, mazda 2 hybrid is kinda along those lines. wasn't there a french car that ran on compressed air?

LS600hL

Full LED headlights (since 2007)

regenerative braking

performance Hybrid drivetrain (not for economy)

High tech infotainment and full luxury features

AWD + Yamaha 5.0 V8

Radar cruise control (since 2001)

adaptive air suspension.

That and the RX450h. It has a freaking electric rear diff for crying out loud since forever ago. No drive shaft going to the rear diff, just 2 thick orange electric cables.

..of course, nobody cares about any of this stuff until Audi does it, then the term "German Engineering" will get severely over used

Thank you!! I drive a German car too! (BMW)

Imagine if Lexus went all out and designed an M3 killer. I'd love to see one, I feel like if the previous gen IS-F was available in a coupe it would have sold much better. Not M3 good, but better than what it did.

I remember back in 2000 or 2001 I believe BMW was doing some stuff with variable compression engines (head on pneumatic sleeves) and also the camless technology. A couple different methods for the camless heads through either through hydro or full electric. The endless amounts out valve timing possibilities is an awesome thought. Fast forward 10+ years and /DRIVE does a video on Koeniggseg trying that out and it seems like it will stay as an experiment for quite a while longer.

I'm sure that reply was for someone else. But while I have you, i've owned many a BMW's including an M car. I am also an ex Lexus master tech. The last variation of the IS-F was very competitive to the E90 once the sway bars were thickened and it finally received a Torsen limited slip diff. I have high hopes for the RF-C and new IS-F. Expecting a "best car" isn't really how I see it. I believe they all offer high performance and features unique to themselves that are slightly more or less better that their competition.
